Barclays Contactless Opt Out?

The only idea I can come up with Barclays is to switch to the Cash account, it comes with a Visa Debit card that's online auth, and therefore contactless isn't offered as an option. Lloyds do provide them, I have one, but it's by request.

My new RFID passport came with a lovely yellow sticker on the back page saying something like "remove before use", presumably to stop the contactless chip being readable in the post.
Might be worth trying it on a credit card to see if it stops it working as contactless. Where is the RFID aerial on a credit card?

Yes, it doesn't inspire confidence does it.

I'm still waiting for a response from them, they aim for 5 working days apparently which was/is today :(

Given I have been attempting to contact them for three weeks now I'm glad its not something more important. Thinking of moving banks anyway after this, what good is a bank who you can't contact?

You will be given a dedicated
complaint handler who will contact you within 5 working days

Six working days and another complaint and finally someone called me back.

Apparently you can opt out of the service and Barclays will provide you with a non contactless card, but you have to go into branch for this to happen (I only hope when I do take some time off to visit the branch they don't say something different).

Why it took them over three weeks to answer this I really can't imagine, I'm just grateful it was nothing more serious.

if you have any issues when you go in, get them to look up the answer on "SID" (internal q&a tool that has answers to most queries), they will then be able to sort it out for you.

If you have more than one contactless card it cannot be reader from a reader as they interfere with each other.

Where exactly should you cut to disable the rfid on a barclaycard? (or another credit card for that matter) When I shine a light through a barclaycard I don't see the rfid chip.

There's stuff on Youtube on how to do it. However, I had an Amazon (MBNA) card with this silly, in my opinion, technology and couldn't find the place through which to stick a pin when following the Youtube video instructions.:o
