Broadband Only Deals

Hi,

Am trying to find a broadband only deal that doesn't cost a bomb for my parents...they live in a rural area and the exchange is basic, meaning no LLU upgrade (is this the right term?) and no comapnies that traditionally offer broadband automatically use it. Exchange is owned by BT wholesale.

My father very stupidly (in my opinion) has just entered into a new contract with a phone company, but they want to charge him £20 per month for a very limited service. He's currently with AOL, but wants out as they lied to him about dropping costs (said if he signed up to a new contract, costs would drop, but this never happened) and have now said they'll be charging him more (£25 per month).

Anyone have any suggestions?

If the exchange is non-LLU then you still have the choice of every non-LLU provider, of which there are dozens. Plusnet, Zen, and many others. So not just BT.
Do an exchange search on www.samknows.com to reconfirm if any LLU providers.
If he's already locked into TT then it may be tricky to get out without an ETC though-their headline rates are based on an LLU service, if non LLU they are very expensive.
