How can Barclays lose my money??

I went to my local barclays branch to make a withdrawal and was told by the cashier, she couldn't help me today and refused to give me my balance and my account showed 'Error and its with head office' expected me to walk out with no explanation. I was told the manager couldn't help me.... I had to leave with nothing!! I rang Barclays only then to be told my balances, were massively overdrawn past my overdraft, including the attached savings account. The only information I have is that the accounts show one transfer, wiping it out a week ago and nobody is telling me what has happened or putting it back. There is absolutely no reason for it to be gone and Barclays have taken it. Can anyone help me as Barclays dont seem to want to be sorting it or telling me what exactly has happened and I am in limbo?

Ask a silly question. Do you have online banking? If so have you had a nose at that?
I expect that there is a simple error that they are trying to rectify, but they shoulf be able to tell you unless they are worried you are not you. If that makes any sense.Grab life by the balls before it grabs you by the neck.0 -
how can one transfer wipe out two accounts?
this sounds like a troll. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
even if the accounts were linked with auto-transfer, how would a fraudster know how much was in the second account to make a large enough single transfer to take the lot? unless it's inside info..The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Sorry, didn't explain transfer very well, its one transfer on each account. I dont have online banking as was worried about fraud!!!!! The only snip bits of information I get from speaking to numerous telephonists is that the transfer ref was approved internally and had a ref against it of 'To Reconcile' !!! I have nothing that could be a bounce back!! or to the value of a total wipeout of the account.0

Sounds like human error to me. Barclays human error that is ! If i see "reconcile" on an account it's usually a manually applied payment actioned within the bank.0 -
