Replacing a Nokia 6303 with decent quality candybar phone

Hi all
my OH would keep his Nokia 6303 forever except the back keeps falling off. He has a good deal from Virginmobile so the deal would need to be very good to take out a contract. He tried some of the Nokia and Samsung candybar phones and liked the Samsung C3530 quite a bit.
I saw Tescomobile has this for £39.99 PAYG or £10 pm 500 mins with phone for £10.
The Nokia C3-01 is the nearest to the 6303 with metal body but the resistive touchscreen is something he has no use for, and its expensive.
Is there something similar to 6303 in the £30 - 40 range refurb?

For a phone that "looks like a phone" I like the Nokias.
They are a bit expensive but well made.
I know someone who "just wants a phone" who has the C3-01 and is very pleased with it.
You can still get new unlocked 6303 phones (strictly the 6303i) it seems from Amazon so possibly getting another one is the easy answer.0 -
OH will try a clear gel cover to keep the phone together; lets see if the 6303 will cope for another year.
Maybe this belongs on the OS board!0 -
there are plenty of used 6303s on ebay, going for tiny money - such as this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nokia-6303i-classic-Steel-Unlocked-Mobile-Phone-/200750588053?pt=UK_Mobile_Phones&hash=item2ebdaae095#ht_500wt_1413 .
I'd be tempted to buy one of those and switch the sim - or even just whip the back off it and see if it will stay on his original phone.
6303s seem to go on forever. I switched to a smartphone back in Feb, and my 12 y.o. son has taken over my old 6303 when his cheapie alcatel packed up.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
If one of those cheap secondhand phones came up already locked to Virgin that would be a good option. Thanks.
Unlocking, add £10 usually0 -
