I should warn you, it's a bit penful. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
In this instance, were you selling ebooks that you didn't have a right to sell? If you were, and have been warned before, it's unlikely to be a spoof isn't it?
One of the first ebooks I saw advertised on eBay was Jamie Oliver's official cookbook with every recipe and all the scanned photos etc - the seller claimed they had the right to resell it and if you bought it from them, then you had to right to sell it too. This is nonsense. Some people think that buying a book/ebook gives them the right to distribute it as an ebook but unless the permission comes directly from the publisher (not an eBay user) this is not the case and it is not legal.0 -

The Naked Chef 2, right? That was never even a real book, let alone an ebook :rotfl:

To be honest, I can't remember which one it was. I remember hearing about that book though, it got leaked etc and I believe the publisher claimed it wasn't an official release anyway.
Point is, even if it was that "book", selling it is still infringing rights
since other people still own the works and photographs that make up that ebook whether or not it ever got published. Unless you have the rights to be selling something, you shouldn't. If they weren't Jamie Oliver's recipes, then it's misselling to claim otherwise... either way, it's not right.0 -
This ebook is a different one from the one which caused my account to be suspended for a few weeks!
Normally if someone complains about an item Ebay cancel the listing and give a warning - with suspension following if you keep reoffending. This time the complainer reported me to Paypal as well.
I take it no one has heard of someone having to fax a form off to Paypal in the US saying that they have violated someones intellectual property and I won't do it again then!0 -
Sorry, we did seem to overlook the original question...
Yes, faxing documents to the US or to paypal UK is the normal way paypal use to consider reinstatement when an account is on warning or under review. They usually require all manner of documents, from proof who you are , like passport details, up to receipts showing ownership of goods being sold. The faxing question arises a lot in paypal threads, although as it rarely features in the title of the thread it is almost impossible to search for.
However, to see if you can use a different method of proving yourself, try giving paypal UK a call and talk it through with them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That rather suggests this is a real paypal request and not a phish. When you log in asking you to update also suggests that some sort of bar has been placed on your account. Unfortunately, even the spoofs say that these days. The only way to be sure is to log in to the account directly (not by following a link) and check there. What goes around - comes around0 -

The whole point though is that if the paypal email says 'log in securely following your own log in screen via a new browser' and does not provide a link then it is difficult to see how they can then scam you.
Always log in via your own screen, never follow links and the fact the OP email suggested this made me think it was probably real.

Ebay and Pay Pal rarely remove items.
I've seen a few poached plants on ebay and have sent numerous emails, along with some other people, and they do nothing about it.0 -

The trick is to report items violating the rules, not email.
Ebay's email is read and answered by a monkey. Unfortunately that monkey can't read, reason, or reply appropriately. My TV is broken!
