Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 25th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Misserable day here, wet and blowing a gale, and its freezing, good job I am off to work really, they will have the heating on there :D.

My garden is very water logged and my water butt is full to overflowing, I wonder if we will still be on a hosepipe ban after all this rain ??

Quiche for dinner tonight, one I made earlier, and frozen, will have it with new spuds and peas / sweetcorn, so a nice easy dinner.

Still got damp washing on the airer, so wont do any today, will have a quick hoover round when I get home.

OK have good days all xx

Wild, wet and windy walk for me and Jack this morning- he was running about the field like a mad thing. Off to school in a minute looks like they will be in all day and we won't be able to do our re-enactment of the Great Fire of London with our paper houses.Too windy and wet.
Toad in the hole for tea DS will cook it and I must put on some washing when I get home. Hope it's drier tomorrow.

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Not actually raining at the moment, but very dark and overcast and heavy rainfall is forecast for later - once it starts it's supposed to be pretty much continous for the rest of the day - deep joy! DH up and gone into work early, but not stupid early, he brought me a nice cuppa in bed before he left. Dentist went well for him last night and he finished up having the broken tooth sorted and another one taken out - he's got another appointment for them to do a filling - and continue with a descale - he wasn't in too much pain but his mouth was still numb and he had to drink a lukewarm cuppa through a straw! He says he's not in any pain this morning - it's just a bit tender which is to be expected. Didn't break the bank financially either.:j:j:j

Dinner last night was a bit dis-jointed as DH was late home, so boys had sausages, potatoes and sweetcorn, Victoria sponge to follow. I had mushroom omelette and salad, DH had a cheese omelette. Remembered to take the chicken portions out to defrost last night, so tonight's dinner will be roast chicken pieces, mash, veg and gravy.

Work was as busy yesterday as Monday was, customers waited for ages etc as had people off sick etc, but just did our best and got there in the end.

OS only amounts to a NSD yesterday, don't really need anything so hopefull of another NSD. Only got to work until lunchtime then home to tackle the washing mountain - really need to get a grip of it as it's overflowing the basket - but don't really want to use the TD. Will put another load in the WM in a mo.

Got a bit of a result with the car insurance for both DH and myself - renewal is due 11 May - did a on-line price comparison once renewal quotes had arrived and they were way off the mark, yet when I did new customer quotes with the same company they could do it nearly £70 a year cheaper for the same policy?! How does that work? We haven't had any claims etc, and have 2 vehicles with that company as my car is insured with them too. Was going to ring them last night and ask for a better price, if that wasn't good enough was going to take our business elsewhere - they phoned me as I'd done an on-line quote and they wanted to know if they were competitive - I told them if they couldn't come up with a better quote for both vehicles they would loose our business - and they managed to better their on-line quotes for both mine and DH's policy - result! :j:j:j

Pre-OS I wouldn't have bothered - wouldn't dream now of just accepting prices for anything - dread too think how much I've spent unecessarily over the years!!

Friend should be coming over for coffee and chat later, haven't seen her for several weeks, but did speak to her last week and she's ok, just been a bit hectic with hols and working and getting childcare whilst she's at work etc.

    Not much else to report.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

    Morning :hello:

We went to the What? shop. I splashed out on a new brush, dustpan and brush and three cloths. Excitement in the sweetie aisle - they were just putting out large Easter eggs (£1.99) so I bought two for myself :D

Mr tru has decided to use my Kenwood Chef as a shelf

I was going to tie up the fruit bushes and plant the toms in the greenhouse today, but it's peeing down ATM. So I'm sat here, a bit bored, waiting for inspiration to strike, lol.

    Hello all,

What a horrible day!! Never want to get out of bed when the weather is like this! Still got to go to work :(

OH has gone to pick up a new tractor today I think, so he'll be a happy bunny tonight.

Inherited a bread maker the other day, lovely!! very pleased, bread is something I've tried over the years and just can't seem to master (good bye dreams of winning Great British Bake Off) made my first loaf and it's lovely - not great when your on Weight Watchers though!

Tonight we're having hot dogs for dinner (veggie ones for me, pork and apple for OH) would quite like Monday to hurry up as it's payday and funds are running low in the Bramble house right now!

catcha later folks, hopefully one day I'll get time to catch up on the threads!

No dinner to cook tonight as we will be at a bbq, so leftovers for lunch fo OH... 2nd lot of sheets in the wm.........I have new sheets to put on our bed ..so exciting....how sad is that...

Morning all. After 2 super efficient days my brain is rebelling and telling my body to stay in bed :rotfl: but my desk is still tidy :D so that's 4 days. Didn't get any more sorting done yesterday so must try to fit in 15 minutes. Bike bill came in yesterday  so outgoings have exceeded income this month. However due to starting mse jan 1st we now have a rainy day fund to dip into :money:
Bramble have fun with the bread maker but DO NOT make lemon curd to go on it. The whole loaf will vanish in seconds :rotfl:
Nmic well done on the insurance :T
Welcome aneres and hugs to all
