Account Disconnected - Still Request PAC?
Hi
My 2 year contract finished today (with Vodafone). I requested a termination on this date - all went through fine.
I phoned up today to request a PAC (using my phone - on its last day of contract). I was told my account was already closed and I couldnt do it (she was aware I was using my phone). The lady reopened my account and told me to call back tomorrow and I could request the PAC.
Now let me state im not overly fussed about keeping my number, I thought I'd get my PAC for convenience (admittedly I left it too late).
So the VF lady and me left it that i'd call tomorrow. A few hours later my signal disappears and I assume that's that for my contract. All perfectly fine with me.
My question is, can you request a PAC from a closed line/account? If you cant then I dont want to waste time calling VF tomorrow.

If the account is closed, the SIM would be disconnected and you will be unable to request a PAC.
You need to request a PAC before disconnection.0 -
Once the account is terminated, the number no longer exists (or is recycled), so a PAC is irrelevant-there is no number to port.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Sorry op not much you can do now.
For others
Always ask for pAC number before closing the account.
Check with the customer service if you have any need, make sure you are not paying anything extra .0 -
Thanks everyone. I did request the PAC while my account was still open. I dont know exactly why it was 'closed' on their database when I could still use my phone.
anyway, nevermind. I'm a little concerned that my account has been set to reopen though.0 -
Asking for a termination will normally overide the PAC request.
A PAC is not a cancellation request, it's merely an 'option to cancel' that is time-limited.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi three1ne,
The answers here are correct, it would need to be active for the PAC to work.
If you would like me to take a look at the account for you, you can email me via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject.
I can make sure that if it has been re-opened, you can get your PAC or alternatively cancel it for you.
Many thanks,
Heidi

Technically the number would be reserved by the network for a few months (to allow for the correction of any errors), so they should be able to re-activate the account and issue a PAC... but whether they will or not is another matter (what's in it for them?)...0
