Same here, I thought it was just that the OP said 'you'll have to ask the wife about that one' and the person on the phone freaked out and blocked the card.......?
If that is correct then I think maybe that is a slight over reaction by the bank I've been referred to as the OH's 'Mrs' ever since we got together and we don't even live together, it's just a figure of speech isn't it??
Problem now solved, easily enough.
There was never the intention to mislead the bank, it was a simple enough case of me asking her to do something, bank phoned me and I asked them to speak to her regarding the transaction, as I didn’t know who she’d use to do it/how much she’d paid for it.
I’m actually quite happy HSBC did flag up a payment that large, as I don’t normally hire cars worth 6 figures (this was for work, not pleasure), but that’s another story for another day.
’Wife’ is not a protected term for married, and my name does appear on various post addressed to her, (people assume we’re married, as we live together); it’s something we live with.
