    BHi again Goofy
Got called away. Have had another look and cant see anything. Have decided that I will stick to a normal screen. Have seen one I like LG L1919S, just seen it in Currys, but can get it cheaper on the net from MoreComputers., so have decided that rather than mess around with trying new drivers, will get that one. Thanks for your help though, it was much appreciated. At least found out that w/scr. was a nono without fiddling around. If I had bought w/scr. I would have been stuck.

Yes, shouldn't be a problem with 19"/20" or more. My g'card supports it - it's a Radeon 9700, which is about 4 years old. As I said in an earlier post, the card's drivers play a role too.

Just to let everyone know who helped me, have taken delivery of the new monitor. Chose an LG L1919S 'normal screen' monitor. Ordered it from MoreComputers.com on Friday afternoon and it was delivered (£4.95) this morning. Have just disconnected the old monster CRT and connected up new one, which was extremely easy, just plugged it in and off it went. It looks absolutely brilliant. No dead pixels, its got a 1400:1 resolution so the colours are very good. 8ms response time.
I really didnt know how bad the old one was until I looked at this one.
Would highly recommend MoreComputers .com. Immediate acknowledgement of my order and kept me informed all the way.The price was excellent, £25 cheaper than Currys (who wouldnt PriceMatch!!).
So, this old technophobe is a really happy bunny this afternoon.

Well done patcat! I'm pleased for you :D.

If it's not already done, set it to it's native resolution (1280x1024), & adjust the display to suit your eyes (some tips here - different monitor, but the principle is the same). G

    Thanks Goofy,
Have set it to 1280x1024, thats even better. Havnt done the brightn ess etc yet, havnt yet found any instructions as to which buttons do what and how to do it. Give my brain a bit more time and I'm sure I will work it out. !!!
