asking me to send an item to Croatioa

I sold an item and put a UK postage of £4. However after the bid ended the buyer is asking for a revised total to send an item to Croatia!
it will not be a big package, so it may cost around £20 to £30 max but I don't if this is a scam or how I will be covered by Paypal if they say they never received it.
I don't know what is the best thing to do here. Can anyone advice please?
thanks

Don't accept Paypal if they want this, because you will NOT be covered by Paypal.
Check some other posts I have written in more detail about this, however this sounds like a scam, if they say they wanted sent to another address in another country, could be a hacked account.
Anyway if they want this, tell them then they must send payment by bank transfer or cheque, if Paypal you only send to the address provided by Paypal, if ELIGIBLE for seller protection!
If Croatia is their official eBay and Paypal address you might be eligible for seller protection, you will have to check that in due time.
But if address is in UK, and they want you send to Croatia, than Red Alarm bells should go off! Is it an expensive item?0 -
What is the item? is it an electrical item (i.e mobile phone, ipod) if so I wouldn't send abroad at all.
In any situation don't send to any address other than the one on ebay/Paypal, if they don't match then post to the Paypal one, else you have no Seller Protection
You mentioned £4 UK postage, so I'm assuming its a packet of about 1kg, which would only cost about 6.50 to post airmail within Europe, if you want it signed for then its an extra £5, and if its expensive you may want the additional insurance for £2.50 so at the absolute top end your looking at £14 postage.
In my experience I've never had a problem selling to EU countries or even further afield, although I don't sell high risk items.0 -
£14 including ISF is extortionate - unless it is worth over £46 you will be insured with a certificate of posting.
Croatia is about to join the EU and is already a kind of 'halfway house' member - so you will need to ask at the Post Office whether you still need a customs form or not."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Croatia does require a customs label.0 -
Regardless of customs or EU, that is not really the point regarding the original posters question.
If somebody asks you to send to different address than on Paypal, than it's an absolute no no! Of course if you want to keep your goods and money safe!
However OP has not said if the transaction is not eligible, or if he has got a changed address for the sales after purchase. Need some more information to know what to do.
If item is above £150 in value, you must send with courier to keep any Paypal seller protection. Royal Mail International will not be suffice.0 -

The OP didn't say it wasn't on PayPal, and if the OP hasn't quite got their settings right then it may well be on PayPal, the only thing the OP is saying is she didn't list postage to Croatia.0 -
Thanks everyone for taking time to reply.
I am fairly new to all this...!
I checked the sellers; ID and I can see the seller is regitered in Crotia- but could not see paypal is registered there and even what addres is . where do I check this?
Its a clothing item. The sale price was less than £15. So it seems pointless why she wants me to post it there and pay all this postage. I am already starting to regret this..!0 -
On the other hand it seems pointless to refuse - it will get you a sale and a happy buyer and good feedback - for not much more hassle than posting it to the UK.
Your choice, but the alternative is a difficult interaction with the buyer and poor feedback and having to relist the item."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

@TOWIU - thank you. By next year it won't - but that is not helpful to the OP."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Ask them to wait a year?
tbh I'd send it standard airmail, get pop and just claim if it goes awol.
you'll probably get good feedback in about a weeks time0
