Just as an aside - check the time on your electricity meter - mine is out by 10 mins on BST - which means more than that on GMT as the meter time doesn't alter summer or winter. There was a thread about this on the gas/electricity forum.

Our tumble dryer is in the garage but I'm terribly paranoid about it (it's brand new so should be quite safe) so will only put it on when either OH or I are here and I check it periodically. Washing machine can sometimes be on as late as 11pm but our kitchen doesnt back onto anyone elses although i must admit I am often guilty of going out and leaving it on - will have to stop that i think.

Gosh I've never even thought of this before...I live in a mid terrace and would put it on whenever I want!! I've also been known to vacuum at 2am if I can't sleep.
I can't hear my neighbours vac or tumble drying though so assume and hope to god they can't hear mine!!

Pretty sure they would have moaned by now though

I put mine on whenever I need to - but it's in our conservatory at the back of the house and so is unlikely to disturb anybody.
  • EEeeeekkkk!!! I have my dryer on literallly 24 hours a day and do at least 4 washing loades a day so both are on whilst we're asleep and when we're out.I never once even thought about fires

Wow - do you really need to do that much washing? We do maybe 3 loads a week and we don't have a drier - we make do with two clothes-horses.

Well I have four children. The three older ones all come home filthy from school so have three uniforms a day,DD2 has bladder issues so can bring two changes of clothes a day home at times plus bedding and Pjs overnight.DD1 is tube fed at night in nappies and often leaks..more bedding, more PJs.Sicky 4 month old means changes for him,me and anyone else who holds him and everything in the general vicinty.Hubby has clean work clothes each day, walking the dog means mud..ummm.That adds up to a lot of washing lol :p xx
