Washer / Dryer - earliest / latest time you have it turned on?

Hi All
Quick poll of the earliest and latest times you put your washer / dryer on? Generally I'd say earliest I put it on is 8am on a weekend day and dryer finished by 9:30pm at the latest on an evening.
The reason I ask is that my next door neighbour has her dryer on at all sorts of times continually and its driving me mad! She has several kids so I understand the need of several loads of washing but her dryer is on several times during the week and generally way past 11pm at night (00:15 the other night!). I even heard it at 6:45am the other morning. I can hear the dryer whirring away whilst laid in bed - I'd hate to think what her electricity bill is.
What do you think is the earliest / latest time for putting on your washer / dryer?
Maybe I should point her to this website so she can find other OS ways of doing her drying.

I put mine on at night sometimes if I need stuff dried for the morning. I hope it doesn't annoys the neighbours - they've never said anything about it so assume it doesn't!!Grocery challenge July £250

When we had Economy 7 electricity I mostly used my washer and dryer during the cheap period so would often get up at 6 a.m. to do it. Latest time has been midnight, again to make use of the cheap rate electricity. Maybe your neighbour is on this tarriff?0

Even though I'm on economy 7 I wouldn't use my washer/dryer overnight as I think it's very rude to potentially disturb neighbours. Also the fire brigade say you shouldn't use it overnight or when out in case of fire.
Personally I never have the washer on after about 9.30 but the dryer until I go to bed as it's not noisy at all.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I live in a flat and my washing machine is very noisy (makes the whole kitchen shake!) so I don't run it before abou 8am or after about 9pm.0

as a Mum of 3 and often I have my Nephews as well I do understand that washing machines are used frequently. 2 of my children have refluz and are often sick in the night so I confess to have used my washer during the night. However this wont effect my neighbours as its in my utility area so nobody will hear it. 5 loads of uniforms alone can take quite some time over the weekend. Perhaps a polite word with your neighbour. It could easily be something like illness or similar im sure she will understand and never have thought that you can hear her.Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

I programme mine to come on at 6am each morning, so ready to go by 7.30. Then its either hung out or put in tumble drier. Same with dishwasher. To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0

Mine has been on at 3am on more than 1 occasion.. I usually load up both washing machines and the dryer as I go up to bed... and du the laundry shuffle in the morning and put them all on again quite early.
I can't hear the washing machiines from the next room so there is no way my neighbours woud hear it..the dryer is another matter.. however, unlike MY neighbours I have my appliances on an outside wall so they are not vibrating through to anyone.. and they required less work to plumb them in

My washer is on when ever there is washing to be done. Ive even got up in the early hours to use the bathroom and piled another load into the washer whilst i was up.
However, i never use the tumble dryer when we are in bed or if i go out as i had one catch fire once. Despite cleaning out the filter on a regular basis its amazing the amount of fluff that had collected when the outer case was taken off.
Fortunately hubby was at home at the time and he chucked it outside 'he-man' style before it caused damage to the kitchen.
Periodically he takes the new one apart now and vacuums it out. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Currently live in a detached house so give absolutely no thought to what time I run my appliances. Even in the last place, I didn't really worry too much because the layout meant that the neighbours bedroom was as far away from the washer as you could get, but I sometimes turned down the spinspeed a bit.
In his last place, my OH was acutely aware that his neighbours bedroom was the other side of the (uninsulated so sound-amplifying) wall to his kitchen and so didn't even wash up, let alone run the washing machine after about 10pm. Until his neighbour got into an apoplectic rage about OH doing 10 minutes of DIY near their living room window at 4pm one afternoon. After being subjected to such an ill-mannered fit for very little reason, he adopted a spectacularly petty approach and made as much "day to day" living noise in his kitchen as he possibly could. Glad I persuaded him to move before it escalated into any more tit-for-tat!0 -
as this has dropped down the OS board, ive moved it to the families board so you can get some more input over here
