Renault Megane Electric Windows

On my 2006 Renault Megane both of my electric front windows have stopped working. Have looked on a few forums for help regarding them resetting, fuses, etc.

Went on to the Renault website and noticed:

If one of your electric windows is not working and your Megane II or Scenic II is no more than 7 years old, please contact your nearest Renault dealer who can replace the window mechanism with a new one, at a reduced price from anywhere between £150 and approximately £220 depending on vehicle model and version.

Seeing as Renault know this is a common fault would this come under the sales of good act?

Any help would be great!

Can't see why, it's worked and been fit for purpose for 6 years.

My dad's 2004 had the same issue. The window seals deteriorate and water gets in and knackers them up. It's just been a rubbish car full stop and good reason not to buy another Renault.

He wants to sell his and has had Renault do the fix to the windows as they had a mind of their own and just opened without warning, sometimes when the car was parked up!

Good luck, but I doubt you'll get free fix.

Same as Clio II central locking for the boot that always fails or their digital dashboards. Renault use carp parts. Welcome to French motoring.

If you contact renault UK directly, they will give you a discount of about 65% at the moment. I've just had to have my megane fixed for the same fault and it cost £120 with the renault discount. It's the window regulator that fails and to buy the genuine renault part costs £160 alone.

To be fair, my megane is 4 year old with 75,000 miles and this is the only problem I've had with it. Renaults are a lot more reliable than they used to be - it's just hard to shake the bad reputation.

Why do you think they give you a discount?

I have exactly this same dilemma. 3 of the 4 windows now don't work, calling my local Renault dealer they know of the issue and said I would get a 76% discount and it would cost between £90 and £130 per window to fix. Said the RRP of the repairs is about £500 per window, yeah right!

I am seriously thinking of taking this further, why should I have to pay to fix an issue which Renault have acknowledged and admitted is a 'common fault'.

Anybody had any luck with this?
  • 3 of my windows have failed on my renault Megane 03 car in the last 3 weeks!! I was waiting for one window part on order when the other two failed!! I'm fuming and thinking of taking it further too. Has anyone had any luck?
  • Mrs sickofusernames 03 plate Megane passenger window failed about 18 months ago, I took the door apart and it was the winder wire which shredded the plastic motor pulley but the motor is fine.

Can't be bothered to pay silly money to get it fixed and looks too fiddly for spanner hands so I put a bit of 2by1 cut to length to hold the window up, it's a !!!!!! come summer as the aircon ain't great either.
  • appart from the windows is there anything else not working? like windscreen wipers? hazards indicators? all three items not working at all?

to be honest you wont get any where with renault.

all cars have common problems, you dont see the manufacturers offering to fix them free do you?

check fuses! 15A in the glove box left hand side is a pull down flap, check in there for the fuse.

each PAIR has one fuse, so theres 2, if one fails both will fail if one has a dodgy copnnection one will work the other will.

if that fails remove glove box to revealk a black box with one black plug one white plug one black plug with a barcoad on it. wriggle it about trying the lights and windows as you do (ignition on).
