The general public can't buy from Howdens if I'm correct. Well that was the last time I went into their store in S!!!!horpe. I seem to think you have to be in the trade.
I may be wrong though.
They will sell to you. Explain your situation and ask to be put down as a 'one time user'.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

Not all Howdens will sell to anybody other than trade. None of the 2 branches that are closest to my locality will. Still, nothing lost by trying. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

Presumably even if they won't sell directly to me they will at least allow me in the door and give me a price so I can send my builder in to pay and collect if they have what I want?3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
No they will not give you a price, they will give your builder one if he goes in though.0

Pop into your local B & Q, select the carcasses you want, pay for them, pop them in you car and off you go. Job done.
I have built several kitchens using B & Q units and they are fine0 -

Howdens units are not plat pack put together. They are dowel and glued rigid carcasses though imo very standard but do the job.
thge reason why B&Q dont send them out built is to save money. No other reason
B&Q units are not a couple of mm thicker . They are the same
Yes they are both laminated chipboard. Whether its the same quality chipboard and laminate I dont know
Didnt see the other posts correcting this post before i repliedThere both actually flatpacks however howdens send them out pre built. So more or less exactly the same product just one has been put together by howdens and one put together by yourself.
The reason B&Q dont do pre-built is because they believe delivery of pre built units will compromise the rigidity in the moving and handling and think its better to build it on site and move it less.
Essentially though theyre both laminated chipboard, and off the top of my head (could be wrong) but i tihnk the B&Q units are a couple of mil thicker.0 -
