Thanks for all replys guys
I've spoken to my mum this evening and I'm going to transfer the money from my savings into her account until I get it sorted with barcleys.
That is absolutely disgusting that they can just take the money from some one else's account and they will get more than earful if they do. They need authorisation!!!!
I'm going to transfer £10 Friday morning, if it goes then I know not transfer any more into my current account.
I work for a government company so I doubt they could do plus cut off point was last Friday so it's on it's way into my account.0 -

Yes that is true, it happened with my mums account once from a payday loan I had. I have also had a payday loan set up for one account and they couldn't get it from that account so they tried one that I used a few years ago with them that I had forgotten about... and was left with unauthorised overdraft fees on both accounts.
Also, re the gambling addiction - I was in the same place you are and kept on gambling to pay off my bills. I was once over £3000 up from the original £70 I put in the machine, lost it all and then needed to lend more. I *think* I'm in a better place now so hopefully shouldn't do that again now I'm debt free - which is where you could be soon enough.
I got out of the mess by closing all the accounts I had previously used to pay off the payday loan companies (Money Shop, Wageday Advance and Wonga(i think)), opened up a basic bank account and had my wages go in to there. Called up the companies and made payments per month whenever I got paid and if I had any spare I would pay an entire loan off at a time (it was a weight off my shoulders). As long as they have an agreement with you to pay off some per month they don't tend to add much, if any, interest. Also once the agreement was made, I knew exactly how much was due to come out each month then.
This actually turned out to be less than the payments that I agreed to make when I set up the original payday loans. One by one I paid them off and it did get better.
I would suggest getting the agreements sent to you in writing before any payments are made - many people on here have had issues with setting up agreements on the phone and the companies taking more than was agreed.

I was going to say I have already read this but couldn't link to it because new users cannot post links. Very interesting indeed and I have taken the right plan by changing where my wages go.
Tomjo, so they charged your mums card without permission? Surely there is something illegal in that?0 -

But they DID have permission, once. That's all they need sadly.0 -
They can charge other accounts that have paid in the past because you authorised them to do so when signing up for the loan. It's not illegal they are just getting their monies back that you promised to pay. Do not be abusive to them even if they do this because they will be very un-cooperative if you need to work out a payment plan with them (ie the monies taken from a linked account is not the total due).
Please, in future, read the T&C's. Especially with things like PDL / Brokers etc.0 -

Well yes and no really.
I had a loan with the Money Shop and I was meant to pay £300 on the 16th of the month (day after I got paid) - I had no money in my account so that couldn't pay it off. They tried about three times that week to get the payment from my account and got nothing because there was nothing in there.
Then because I'd used my mum's spare account card to pay off an entire loan with them from around the same amount of money about six or eight months earlier (I was switching accounts, so was in limbo and needed somewhere for my wages to go) they still had the account registered as authorised for taking payments from me. So they tried that one with no luck also. I didn't have a clue until my mum got a letter through saying she owed a lot in unauthorised overdraft fees!
So they did use it without my permission, that time, although I did apparently give them that permission when I made a one off payment to them... Shocking but true.Debt Free as of April 2012! Sealed Pot Challenge 5 (no. 1805) - £13.23/£3000 -
I never signed for gran to make the payment. She has paid once... She's going to be so disappointed in me.
I don't know what to do now, do I just pay it off with my last wage or wait and see what happens?0 -
Good morning.
I have spoken to my bank last night, they said that they would not allow the pdl to come out of my savings account because they don't have these details or authority. They even advised canceling my card, but I need to access my funds somehow over the weekend and with no branch's open I can't do this.
Another email sent to pay day express this morning. Not holding my breath for a response though.
Still massively worried that they will take the money from my gran.0 -
Have you told your gran yet that they may seek payment from her? Just thinking she might need a couple of days to transfer money or have the option of moving the money.July 2015 - £7800 to pay off0
