I have just sat back down and saw Sanya's post.
I work for a bank and the scammers always blame paypal etc but NEVER ever PART WITH A PENNY before you see the car.
I have heard stories that would make your hair curl, many of the cars don't even exist.....0 -
Sorry to quote myself but I just phoned ebay and it is a phony!! Close one!!
Well done for checking and not getting caught out.
I find eBay a bit of a minefield for cons/phonies. I know there are a lot of genuine buyers and sellers but you have to be so careful who you give your information to don't you?0 -
Hiya!
Question for you..... Do any of you have any experience of using 'Ebay's Purchase Program'? It's for buying a car. The seller says that you pay the money to ebay and they don't release the money to the seller until the car has been inspected and accepted by ourselves. Is this correct? I'm worried that the guy sounds a bit dodgy so wouldn't want him getting the money without having a car to show for it. TIA
Sanya
I suspect some people may read this as me being a bit patronising but this is based upon my own experience.
1. Never ever ever ever buy a car unless you've had it independently inspected by the AA or some other reputable organisation. Certainly never buy a car that you haven't seen or at least test driven yourself.
2. If you are going to pay for the car via Paypal or some similar method make sure you pay for it on your credit card, if your CC won't cover the whole amount pay as much on your CC as it will stand and pay the rest via Paypal.
3. The reason for this is as long as you pay more then £100 on your CC then the whole transaction is covered by your CC protection. This does not apply to debit cards only credit cards.
4. If your Paypal account is linked to your bank account then Paypal will ALWAYS take the money from your bank account to avoid them getting chargebacks. Before you make the purchase clear the linked bank account of any excess money and then make the payment into Paypal via your CC, this gives you the protection in 3 above.
It's worth noting that Paypal moved themselves out of the UK a few years back when they were ordered to register themselves with the Financial Ombudsman who considered they were acting as a bank. Their 'protection' policies are very weak when it comes to large amounts in my experience as they themselves have to provide the refund, effectively they have to be judge and jury in giving you their money.
There are horror stories and it's worth having a scan read of paypals*cks.com to see some of the issues people have had.
Hope this helps.0 -

One final thing, cash transfers through a credit card are NOT covered so do not send any money to a bank account or retailers bank account.0 -
How greedy,if i was the only one then yes i would buy as many as i wanted but if someone else was trying to buy them at the same time as me then yes i would share. This is one of the reasons i hate whoppsies sometimes.I am fine when people will share but if the same certain people are there[ you know the ones that grab everything] i walk away.
Ha ha ha!!!! Got to say I thought I was helping the lady out - the same certain people [you know the ones that eat everything!!!!:rotfl:]0 -

Its weird, because I am the only person who ever mentions 2 of the stores i did on here, but they are ALWAYS empty by the time I get there :mad:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Has anyone tried/managed to get the choc from an express store?0

Phew, bit windy down south. No wonder the clouds are coming over quick. Just hoping the clothes blow dry before the heavens open, I'm having to watch from lounge window just in case anything comes off the line or the rain starts. Gives me an excuse to be on here.
Gosh looking at it all now if it stays on I think I deserve a medal. Reckon it will be dry in half hour at this rate. Being very MSE not using the tumble dryer.
Wine still in stock but did not realise there was a £5 delivery charge, does say deliver to Scotland so might be a good buy still seeing you don't get our offers up there?0
