Exactly, I don't know if he does the taxis because he's struggling or just because it gets him more money. I think his 'worth' includes the 'value' of his properties. I just can't believe so many people are into it. Honestly... I logged onto my computer later that night and checked out BTL mortgages. I'm not getting into it but I've never properly researched it due to my stance on the matter. Sometimes you have to play dirty to get by - it will be interesting to see how my graduate friend gets on with his...0

I not only don't deny anybody a home, I (we) actually provide 8 homes for our tenants.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

His 'worth' would have to include only the property equity (ie the value less disposal costs, fees, CGT etc) rather than the value.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
chucknorris wrote: »IMHO I think that is just as unrealistic as the story itself:
He is supposedly worth 1.5m net and not only works as a railway engineer, I'm not sure what that is, but I can buy that, after all my wife and I both work and have 8 investment properties. But he also works as a part time taxi driver! Come on, get real!
If it was true and he is worth 1.5m net and has 7 investment properties in central Scotland, a clue about the area is that the OP says he lives in a 500k house as if that is something special (he says 'seen it') which tells me that the area isn't particularly expensive. Yet his 1.5m net worth would equate to over 200k per property. So how can his debt be significant (in relation to his net wealth)?
It could be of course that he does have 7 investment properties but is in trouble but doesn't want others to know. That would explain why he would also be working as a part time taxi driver i.e. there is no 1.5m net worth.
Everyones different. Some people can get pretty obsessed with creating wealth (I'll admit I work a few too many hours myself!). While it's unusual, I don't think its actually that hugely unlikely.
Re the taxi thing, thats probably just his cover for the high class call girls the tenants pay for...0 -

You should get the nobel peace price for that.0 -

I'm happy enough with just the rental profit, obviously the point I was making is that a property doesn't have to be owned to be someone's homeChuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

It wasn't the hours (I too was a workaholic for many years, happily recovered now though) it was the lowly paid taxi driving AND the wealth that didn't seem to fit well together IMO.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

But if you didn't buy them they would be cheaper and so said tenants would be able to buy instead of rent from you.
Reminds me of Sky TV, they have recently stole the F1 from me and now offer to rent it back to me... how nice of them.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
