Is Orange ripping me off?
Hi Guys,
I signed up for a 2 year contract last year around about August with Orange. A couple of months later i got the text saying they are going to bum me with a 4% increase in my contract.
I signed up for £25 a month contract but last months bill came in at £27.60! There is no penalties on it either for going over my qouta. Are they aloud to increase my contract by this much as surley this is above the retail inflation percentage?
Can i cancel my contract as they are breaching the section which states any increase must be below the retail inflation percentage?

According to this http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-2067206/Orange-pay-monthly-customers-hit-4-34-increase-New-Year.html
increase was 4.34% which I would make about £26.64 as your new monthly cost, not £27.60. Could be vat increase.
Sure there are no data charges, app download or something, picture message.
What was bill in December and February - excluding vat and vat amounts?0 -
I think the contract was taken out when VAT already risen to 20% and was suppost to be at £25 per month. Last month is 27.60 but no mention of overuse on the bill.
Febs bill was 26.53 and Jans bill came in at 26.53. The same again for December 2011.0 -
O I forgot TAT rose to 20% in Jan 2011 :-)
Seems like 4.03% increase from £26.53 to £27.60
What about prior to Dec 2011 - what was the figure from start?0 -
Hmm i've noticed that they bill have sneaked in 'Itemised bill' in which adds an extra 1.28, although that seems to be with the last bill too.
My first bill was september last year and came in at 28.20 (they said first would cost more). November was 23.56 but tihen in December it shot up to 26.53.0 -
Turn of itemised billing I guess - depends on if you really want it.
T-mobile / Orange sure know how to make things difficult - even online billing they charge for itemised billing I think.
No get out of contract I am afraid - just complain about the unwanted itemised billing charge and maybe they will give you a tenner in compensation.0 -

If you view your bills online, they don't charge for it at all but you will need to contact customer services first to get them to 'switch off' your paper bills.
If you need to have a paper copy of your bill, you can print it from your online account. If you have a paper bill sent from Orange then they will only send it in itemised format and they will charge for that. They used to offer the option of being sent a paper bill (non itemised) which wouldn't cost but now, as I said, if they send it out, it's itemised and chargeable!0
