It is NOT a legal requirement for companies to voice record telephone calls. This is a fact however 'unlikely' you believe it to be.

No it isn't a legal requirement that they do so. But it ALSO isn't ILLEGAL for them to do so provided they make sure that people know, which they do. You are taking an awful lot of unbrage on behalf of your firend - it is her issue and if she wants to challenge this them she must complain. But I doubt she will get anywhere if all she has to go on is the employer doing something legal and them giving her feedback on a call after a cutomer coimplaint.

Seesaw29 - do you know the nature of the complaint? Is it via a customer, or internal? Is it actually a complaint against your friend, or against that team? You're not actually clear on that, and that could make a major difference to the advice you get.

For instance, if a customer complained against your friend, then it seems ok what they've done. If it's an internal complaint just against your friend, then again it may be ok. If the complaint is against the department and your friend is the only one being recorded it is possibly a different matter.

With regards to your question about keeping credit card information, it is likely this company has a legal/data protection team that has worked closely with the information commission on how long and for what purpose they themselves are allowed to keep this info. Depending on their security protocols, this could be longer than another company with worse security. If you are concerned about that, try putting in a FOI for this.

I appreciate what everyone has said, by law though a company is not required to record all calls. (this is a fact) The name of the employer is a house hold name in top 20 brands names in the world.
    !

That narrows it down, very few (mostly none) financials are in the top 20

An FOI to the Information Commission?

The company would not be subject to the FOIA.

No, a FOI to the company in question regarding their data handling.

As I said, the company is not covered by the FOIA. An FOI request there would not be of any use. However a simple question for their policy (not under the FOIA) should get an answer. That answer might be to look at their website.

I had realised and already edited prior to this.

Seesaw29 - having had a quick skim of the guidelines you mentioned earlier, it seems there's no issue storing credit card details on audio so long as CVV has been deleted. As long as this happened this company aren't breaking guidelines.

Im sorry, do you have anything useful to contribute or are you a troll?

Judging by your post history it would appear you are an sad old individual who spends all day on these posting just for the sake of it to keep your post count up?

You posted a thread not more than than 10 mins or so after the Spurs Bolton game was abandoned to see if anyone had any further news.. on a moneysaving site? what on earth made you think that anyone on here would have any more infomation than Sky/BBC/Any other major media source.. Or were you just desperate to break the news to people before they heard elsewhere?

Does anyone on here have any friendly advice or shall i just close this thread now?

    Gratitude eh?

You don't like the answer. Fair enough. You should learn to take the rough with the smooth if you are to last here.

But stalking someone and making a big deal out of them asking for further news on a football match is pathetic beyond belief
