Orange PAYG account closure: Credit can move or is lost!!!
Hi there,
I picked up a cheap Nokia 1100 on Tesco mobile. I now need my PAC code to move from Orange to Tesco. Calling up Orange, a) they couldn't do it because their computers weren't working (they almost never are when I call) and b) they claim the £7 I have on my account can either be transferred to another orange PAYG or else is lost.
I have physically lost the orange phone that account links to, so there is no way of me spending the money.
My question: is this certainly the case by everyones experience? I cannot see how this is legal. I paid, in advance, for a service. If I don't use the service at all, surely a refund is a legal requirement. It certainly is ethically if not legally.
I wouldn't even mind so much if it was "we will donate it to charity" or whatever. But no, oranges back pocket is the way they do it apparently.
Just how much a year do they get like this?

im sure its legally - simply they want to provide you with the service, its you changing your mind which is not their fault, at least u have the option of keeping the credit by transfering it to another paug
if you take such offence to orange keeping the credit then use up the credit before the transfer, give it to charity yourself
there were lots of people who had to use up credit when easy mobile went, there were lots of threads made about using up the credit
order a replacement orange sim card (if you havent had one before they do or at least did 1 courtesy free replacement) and use that to use up the creditYes Your Dukeiness

Not clear whether you lost the phone or simcard aswell!
If you have the simcard with you, simply unlock your new phone and use it..0
