3 Different amounts we are entitled to

Hi there

I am being made redundant and was looking to check benefits we are entitled to. I used the benefits checker on here,Family nest calculator and the Direct Gov website and we have been given 3 different amounts.

Anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.

Well I get paid off on July 1st.

We have 1 child with the 2nd due any day now.

My wife was going to go part time but with this happening we have decided she would be better going back full time and I'm looking for something for around 24 hours a week.

    She earns £22500 a year.

I may have a job but it won't start until August making £8311 a year.

I'm wondering what we would be entitled to between July and when my job would start.I'm going to be looking for work in between this time as well. and then what (if any ) benefit we would get based on wages and childcare I mentioned.

The job is 3 days.My newborn will be going into a nursery 3 full days costing £120 a week. Council Tax costs £1100 a year and transport costs will be £25 a week between us for public transport.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You can apply for jsa if you are seeking employment. You won't get any help towards childcare untill you are in work again also

Not 100% but in a v similar situation as yours I was made redundant in oct while on mat leave with my 1st child. I received 6months contribution based JSA which has now finished, I'm not entitled to any more as my husband works ft. You can claim child tax credits through your wife's salary I believe about £10pw?

Poss to purchase childcare vouchers through her company to save some cost there or over 2s can get 15 hours free childcare I think also?

The 3 were coming out varying between us getting £160-£205 a week in total when I wasn't working and around £95 when I was working. Bit strange. Don't think anyone knows whats going on to be honest.

If the wife is currently on SMP of a substantial amount (i.e. more than £111 per week) Then the only thing you can claim is JSA Contributions which will be £71 pw for 6 months max (assuming you are over 25)

The wife can claim Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits

you may get HB for rent only or CTB if you have a low household income claimed from your council.
