BT phone and internet rant

Just about had enough of BT, last yr I had finished my contract and was looking for another one so I phoned them and asked how much it would be, they told me £26 per month, so I asked if that was the total amount of what it cost, told yes so signed up, sorted DD to £26 per month - thought that was it!
Noticed last month they had taken by DD £65 out of my account so I phoned up and was told sorry its a mistake will refund it to bank account.
Check my bank account today and no refund!! so phone and I am then told another story that my contract finished back in January so I now owe them quite abit and that £26 per month was not what the full amount of the package was infact it was nearly £28 instead, so I asked why I would set up a DD for only £26 per month when in fact the bill would be higher?? also I questioned why I wasn't sent anything to say that the contract would be ending??
Get told that it was wrong on their side of things with regards to the DD payments so I asked about new contract offers, was told they could do £27.85 per month instead of the out of contract amount of £44 per month!!! also they would credit my account by £15 to make up for the bad service that I have had!!
I don't think it covers no-where near the amount of stressing this has been on me or how they have treated me when I tried to find out what had been happening to my account I was lied to!!
I am thinking of switching to sky (already sky customer) to see what phone and broadband offers they have in place, I rarely use my landline (as use mobile more due to contract free mins etc) and really only need it for the sky connection! broadband we like though!!
Any suggestions to whether sky has better connections (speed etc) than BT also are sky customer services quicker to answer and sort problems than BT and better communicating than the foreigners from BT call centres?? any input is greatly appreciated.

Are you out of contract or coming up to it?
I signed up to BT last week but havent given my MAC. Having checked things out apart from non existent service, it looks like they are making the dosh on the phone and line.
ie extra £3.5 p/m for base phone package, if dont use £5 of calls get charged £5, then make extra on all calls as well.
Swings and roundabouts but cannot live without a connection for more than a few hours yet alone weeks and frustration. Not to mention the lies by sales just to get you onboard and in turn into a contract.0 -
We HATE sky - we were lied to by them and ended up with no phone or internet for over one month.
We signed up for their free internet package and then swtched from talk talk, in the end we were told that the free internet was not available in our area and it would be £17.50 a month. We said NO and they said, tough, we were breaking our contract to leave them. HA HA HA Thieves. But we also dislike BT as they messed us around so much over the putting the phone line in. Now we are back with talk talk, abthough we now feel that we are tied to them as will never give SKY or BT a penny of my hard earned money ever again!! Good luck in your decision making0 -
Can you actually get Sky LLU on your exchange?
Do an exchange search on www.samknows.com to check, otherwise you will be on Sky Connect (non -LLU service).
No one can tell you what speed you will get, that is dependent on distance from the exchange and line quality-use the speed checker on the Sky site to get an idea.No free lunch, and no free laptop

so is it a good thing to be able to get that? I am a technophobe and have no idea - all those charts things are too complicated for me, I just want cheap line rental as don't use the phone maybe £2-3 of calls a month and broadband that is fastish and is a constant without freezing or !!!!!!ing up!! BT have been good in that way but feel the package they want to offer is way too expensive - I am out of contract now so can choose who I want to go with.Comp wins 2013:160 finish quantum tabs, 2xtickets private screening of prisoners(Jake n Hugh 2)

Given your (or your sons') huge data usage, Sky's LLU tariff would be a good choice, as it's unlimited.
You can reduce the line rental by paying it upfront using Sky Upfront Line Rental. No free lunch, and no free laptop
