This approach has worked for many others who have come to this forum with similar problems. The OP should try it too.

T-Mobile does not offer any out of EU bundles though

Wow. I didn't realise that. It means that data is charged at £7,500/GB (vs around £10/GB in the UK) unless you get a local SIM.
