morning!
A bright sunny start here :j- although Mum has just emailed me to say its pouring down in her bit of Devon.
Off to work this afternoon so a nice morning pottering for me. had a read in bed, shower and now a coffee before I start. Got to pop into town and post on some mail to DS1 and also have a check on the house that I look after as its owner is back from the USA this week.
DH is cooking for him and DS2 tonight - I'm having one of my favourites at work as I checked the menu last week and its cheese and potato pie:)
DH will finish the last bit of HM veg soup for lunch. I was going to have a jacket spud but I think that'll be too much spud in a day so I'll have some tinned mackerel instead.
(((hugs))) to those in need of them
Happy Saint George's Day!:)Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Happy St George's Day everyone

Plans today are housework, get new lead and halti for Luna as when we walk as a family and DS is way out in front she's constantly pulling at lead, walk Luna with my mum and her nutcase puppy this afternoon and try and shoe horn in some ironing and yoga
Not sure about tea, haven't decided yet. BM is on, not much OS though really is it :rotfl:
Hugs and spoons all round, gotta dash, if brewing headache will let me

Morning each,
its been cold and soggy here this week again.
Yesterday I went into town to get a chicken and deliberated about taking a coat as it was baking out in the garden, I took my fleece jacket and sun hat and on the way home it rained, so good thing I did.
I tried the Jam crumblies recipe from the fiscal thread and everyone loved it so will be doing that again today.
For the last 10 days, I have had a horrible blocked up ear.It was so bad I couldn't hear the engine in the car properly for gear changing.
It wasn't painful at all though, so no Dr visit (I hardly ever go as I tend to just wait a day or two and find things get better anyway).
Today it has cleared and it is so odd, like everything is in colour instead of in black and white LOL
I am itching to get on with the veg garden,if only the rain would let off for longer than 20 minutes or so!
Today, DS has an actual physical ,in the flesh interview!
He has applied for loads of jobs but never managed to get interviewed before.
Tonight will be chicken stew which will either be comfort food for licking his wounds or celebratory grub for the other situation.0 -
Quiet today as DH and dd have gone to look at FIL's bungalow
and ask about renting it out as nowhere is selling at the moment.
Youngest is at home revising for A levels and has had breakfast. Home made veggie cous cous is in the fridge for lunch and we have a la leftover beef. carrots and onions, yorkies etc for tonight as well as chicken korma that needs eaten.
Going to have nice long shower to wake myself up and then clearing up the kitchen and putting washing machine on. Grey skies and looks a bit yeuch for drying clothes outside.
Might make apple crumble for tonight to cheer us all up.
Hugs to all especially penny pincher, uolypolly, molly, lamewolf
and Cariad."This site is addictive!"

Morning all...am I really here so early?? Was out at 8.15 to take DGS2 to school as DD4 is doing oral Irish this week so can't take him...will get me up earlier so that's a good thing.
Heavy shower just easing off now, then going to garden centre to get fertiliser to dig into greenhouse before we plant out chillis, courgettes and tomatoes...will put a few sweet peppers in there as well, everything else can go outside as have stacked gh up in other years and made things too hard for ourselves.
Congratulations on your new potatoes Hester...good for gymnastics obviously!
Dinner to-day will be spaghetti and meatballs, sauce is from freezer, so just spag to cook, so easy....have some carrot and ginger cakes so that will be fine for afters.
WM just finishing, will be going on airers as think that showers could be widespread to-day.
Am progressing well on third blanket....just have 2 huge balls of poodle type wool, think that it will do a 6 foot square one, is multicoloured so just doing garter stitch, which moves fairly fast.
OH hanging around looking long-suffering so had better move...have a good day all

I'd forgotten about it being Shakespeare's birthday; Mr LW bought me a T-shirt for my birthday, from the RSC online shop, with a quote from Midsummer Night's Dream on it: "Though she be but little, she is fierce". Cheeky wotnot!:rotfl:DundeeDoll wrote: »Morning all. Happy St Georges Day everyone. I'll be making scones to celebrate, and maybe toad in the hole. Oh and happy birthday shakespeare the man who gave us so many new words and phrases yet never could decide how to spell his own name :rotfl:
Uolypool (((HUGS))) sweetie; you really do seem to have a lot of others' pain to alleviate.

Good afternoon all even though its tipping down here in north Kent. It's not seemed to have stopped raining since the hosepipe ban started
Had a great weeked ,saw my friend and gave her the veggie book and my other friend and I bought her lots of beans and pulses, and said we'd had a clear out from our cupboards between us, as otherwise she wouldn't have taken it. I know it was a little bit of a porkie, but she's such a stubborn lass, and she could hardly refuse a freebie could she:)
We'll never go to heaven thats for sure but its sorted her out for a little while. My other friend is trying to help her sort her finances out a bit as she was left a bit brassic when her OH run off with a barmaid from the local pub.Silly old begger, they'd been married for 43 years as well, and because her health hadn't been very good he decided pastures new with someone not only half her age, but half his as well Grrrr. There's times when I dispair of humanity
Saturday afternoon my DD and I took the three youngest lads to a Medievil Old English Fair at the local country park, and we had a great time .The boys learned that soap and butter and cheese were made, not in Tesco's but years ago at home, and they saw how it was made , also the youngest boy had a donkey ride which he was thrilled to bits with, and they all had a go at archery and we watched some dancing and some terrier racing and they petted the huge shire horses It was a lovely afternoon and didn't break the bank as the entrance was free and they all had money left from Easter to spend.
Yesterday afternoon was spent at the local hospital while our 'gentle Jack ' got his foot x/rayed as he had taken a mighty kick at his football, missed and whacked his toe.Black and blue and too sore to put weight on we decided to be on the safe side a trip to A&E was in order .They were brilliant and apparently he has severe deep tissue damage but thankfully no broken bones .So he is hopping around as best he can, but this morning although limping badly he went off to school as usual bless him.
I'm just off to pick the boys up from school and my dinner tonight is tuna and sweetcorn salad as I'm using up everything I can in the fridge this week as I'll be off on my travels on Saturday for a week.Hope the weather brightens up a bit
Take care all and <<hugs>> to those who need them
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Afternoon everyone,
Had a really busy morning so haven't managed to get on till now.
Hugs to Caraid's mum, Uolypool's friend, LW and Molly.
Get well soon to all the poorly animals.
Hester hope the hip gets better soon.
Have decided that my house is a tip and needs a good tidy up, I think that I will make a start before tea tonight.
Don't need to do any cooking as I made 2 lots of lasagne last night so there is enough left over for tonight.
Have a lovely afternoon everyone.:)0 -
Hello everybody and hugs to all in need of one. Blue sky and fluffy white clouds here but a bit parky. On Friday we had our water meter fitted so I have spent the weekend watching it go 'round
and it inspired OH to fix the toilet flush in his bathroom.... Apart from that we didn't do much apart from I was "allowed" in the garden section of B&Q and got 3 roses yesterday. To be fair I was going to get them from David Austin but got a red, a white and a yellow for less than the price of one DA one due to a 2 for £10 and buy 3 pay for 2 offer on which all combined nicely on the till. Apart from that not really much to report. I'm still feeling washed out from this cold thing although I've now got to "need to blow my nose a lot" stage which is good as I was getting worried as I've got a gynae investigation/op tomorrow - which apparently will also leave me tired and feeling bleagh so I have collected the jeans I need to patch and put them to one side to do whilst watching "Vera" on catch up in bed on Tuesday. I'm also making two lots of dinner tonight - both puff pastry open tarts; one med roast veg and the other ham and asparagus. Plus it means the oven is only on once rather than both days. Anyway, I might be MIA for a couple of days - we're meant to be going to a crime night for World Book Night but frankly I'm not sure I'm up to it as I'm shattered..... might have a lie down now actually :rotfl: I hope everyone has a nice evening and a good couple of days! But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green

Afternoon all!
Had round 2 of the meltdown from DS this morning after he stood with the hand out demanding money, dripping attitude. Told him to blitz his room whilst I was at the shops and lose the mood, or to seek alternative lodgings and leave his keys.........came home to room still a tip and no son or keys, not sure if hes taken any clothes or not.....cue me filling binbags in his room like something possessed............have also had his tutor from college on the phone again looking for him.....................I need a holiday!!!
Now waiting with bated breath to see if he comes home tonight, as he has no money.....why did I have children??????????
On the plus side the room has been cleaned, curtains been washed and all his crud piled in bags waiting to be sorted, minus side my eyes are a bit damp and red and my head is pounding with the frustration and the tears!RIP Iain
