Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 22st April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Tea's made, packups sorted, HM quark & crackers for me, HM beef curry & rice for hubby.
I got lots done at the weekend but it never seems to be enough, hey ho, housework will keep, we have clean clothes, food & I started another crochet blanket.
I spent most of the weekend limping around with a painful hip, but it's a lot easier this morning, good job as I really didn't want to have to explain to my work colleagues that I was getting to old to attempt some of the positions in the Karma Sutra!
Time I stopped nattering & got in the shower.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Overcast and dark here at the moment. DH up and off to work early but not stupid early.

Had a lovely time away albeit wet and muddy. Was great to meet up with friends we haven't seen for a while, so had a great time socialising with them over a few (well quite a lot!) of alcoholic beverages!! Lots of laughs too. Was a bit yukky trying to get away yesterday though, the field itself was fine but the entrance was a complete mud pit and an older couple in a large motorhome sunk in the mud, so DH towed them but unfortunately the motorhome driver kept giving too many revs and wheel spinning and then got stuck right in the gateway, we then had to get another 4x4 hooked up to the front of ours and he was able to be on the roadway so automatically had loads more grip, just eased forward and everything was fine. When we left we were absolutely fine coming through the mud with our 4x4 and caravan, motorhomes are so heavy they just don't cope so well with the soft/muddy conditions. DH really impressed with the car though, it's the first time we've needed to use 4 wheel drive in such bad conditions and he's happy now that we made the right choice. :):):)

We weren't too late getting home yesterday, so was nice to get back and have some chill time at home, got unpacked, everyone had baths and showers, then as we had only spent 25p and bought £3 worth of raffle tickets, which then won us 4 x cans of boddingtons and 4 bottles of lager, decided that we'd have a naughty takeaway as a treat and bought a bottle of wine to accompany - all in all a very good weekend despite the weather conditions. This time last year we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine when we went away!

Back to work today, am expecting the normal manic Monday! Will be absolutely fine - I just do the best I can under the conditions we're now working under, have adopted the attitude I can only do as much as I can do, I've always given a 110% at any job I've had so do feel that they certainly get their moneys worth out of me.

Dinner tonight will be gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash and veg - nice and easy to start the week when I've been at work all day. Will put a load in WM in a moment - think it's going to be drying on the airer again most of the week.

Haven't got a definitive menu plan for the week, but have planned for today and Wednesday - so need to organise for tomorrow, Thursday and Friday - think I'll be doing that tonight - did manage to get the baking done Friday so have mince pies, a jam and cream Victoria sponge and Twinks in the tins. We're not away this next weekend, DH and I have decided we need to clear out the porch it's a real pigsty - we both feel sure there's stuff in there that can be thrown away, possibly some to sell - we may make a start on it tonight but depends on how work goes and what time he goes in from work.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

    Morning all

    Happy St Georges day :T:T

Its a bit overcast here today, wm is on, will hang it out if I can, otherwise its the airer again.

Had a good day on ebay yesterday, so need to send OH down the post office, (he has a day off today) , I also listed more things, one of which got off to a good start last night :D

Need to have a tidy through this morning, roast lamb for dinner, I got a leg half price in Mr T £9, which is still expensive for us, but should do a few meals.

DD is of on her final placement for this year, she is going all week to a local, center for people with learning difficulties, she is going to be someones one to one, and help out with the clients, she loves it there, so should enjoy it.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

    Morning all!!

Pup is getting better, thanks peeps, he's so lucky he missed his eye. But there is now swelling or oozing, so think he'll be fine, maybe just a bit of a scar face!

Dinner with my family was good yesterday, I didn't count points (it would have been terrifying to add them all up!) but back on my Weight Watchers today, so hoping for a loss still this Thursday. There is a new WW centre in town which I want to get to at some point this weekend.

Defrosting mince and prawns for dinner tonight for either bolognaise salad or prawn pasta thingy.

Not much else to report, hope everyone is okay, will catch up on the threads shortly.

I feel like I've not had a minute's peace this weekend!! Need some chill out alone time!

Good Morning every-one. Long time no "see". Although I'm in more pain than I have been for a while, my mental health and attitude seems better, so I'm trying to climb back on the OS/MSE bandwagon.

We had a chicken in the SC yesterday, I fed 4 of us with half of it, the carcass went back in the slow cooker to make some stock over night and the other half will be turned into a big pan of soup to freeze and salad wraps for lunch. So, that's not a bad start :)

When we moved into this house, the landlords had just bought it, we are the first tenants in here. Before we moved in they put in uPVC double glazing on all the windows, apart from ONE side of the bay, and the windows around the front door. They said they would finish those later despite the fact that the frames were starting to rot then. Four years later and they are finally coming to do it today!!!:j They put in a new (PVC) back door on Friday, the old one was wood and rotting away and had big gaps around it. It's noticeably warmer already in the kitchen :T so I'm hoping that when they've done everything our heating bill will come down a bit. I'm not looking forward to the mess though.

    Hugs to all (((())))

Morning ladies, thank you for the kind words.
Happy St Georges Day and a happy birthday to my fab bro -in -law.
    Its not raining :eek::j:j.
May just have to attempt putting some washing out.Have a tesco delivery today , am managing to stick to the "no fizzy, crisps, choc or sweets " challenge for april that I found on here somewhere. If the kids want it they can go and buy it out of their own money, amazingly nobody has, I wonder why;);).
Woofer doing ok still, he slept right through last night, reckon it was the change of buster collar.

My friend is going to come round here today , she doesnt want to be in the house on her own. So plenty of tea and homemade cake today I think . Her daughter popped in on her way to school this morning to say her mum hasnt slept since he passed and she is really worried about her. So will see if I can convince her to get a hour or two here. But here for her to talk to , cry on, scream and shout at if need be or just to sit quietly and remember a great man.

    Have a good day all.:)

Morning all, happy St Georges day
nmlc sounds like a brill holiday
((hugs))cariad, uolypool and all in need

OH left for work long ago and as I no longer have work :j I've been cleaning, vacuuming, packing and planting. Just filling in loads of forms for my new job then will knuckle doqwn to some uni work.
Me and OH looked at loads of houses/flats over the weekend and are torn between two houses. Is it worth an extra £150 a month for bigger kitchen, upstairs better bathroom, parking and a garden? Oh and about 100 plug sockets!! I'm inclined to say yes as they're all things which make life that bit easier and more pleasant and it's still well within our budget.
My Nan is no better or worse and is very fed up of being in hospital. It looks like she will have to go to an assessment centre. My Mum is stressed out like mad thanks to other family members and isn't sure if she's going to go away next week :(
