Considering Purchasing a House with a conservatory

Thanks Suzie, still wont allow me to add links to images. Would really like to get a view on the how big the conservatories are
That is very large. I wouldn't want to have to heat that in winter. I would walk away unless you don't mind having large heating bills (surprisingly some people don't seem to mind).0 -
Thought a few images would put this into perspective. Yup it is very large.
It was the outside space and things i could do to the inside which got me thinking. Its not like ill be getting this for a bargain price neither so will be paying for conserv even though it prolly getted ripped down as we would freeze over the winter.0 -
Woah big!
If you do decide to buy make sure it has all relevant certificates from planning and building control.
I may be wrong, but with a kitchen in, it can't be closed off from the house, so can't be classed as a conservatory.0 -

I intend to ask about all this. I think its worth getting all the information and before i make a final decision
I have another image showing that the lounge had double galzed doors too. Not allowed to post though0 -
We had our conservatory built 5 years ago and it is appx 6m x 3m. It has 2 large radiators in it and can be kept warm in the winter by those. It is mainly used as a dining room and as it's just the two of us we don't tend to use it much. When we have people over though we use it and it's lovely, when we had 10 people in there for dinner in November we had to open the windows because it very quickly got too warm. It has a glass roof as well rather than polycarbonate. Even if we'd had a proper extension built instead we wouldn't have used the space any more.0

Others have covered the heat issues so not going to repeat. We have an open plan conservatory to dining room and kitchen installed by previous owners - it gets very cold in cooler temps but not too hot in summer as is north facing. Direction and sun lines will have a big impact on temps. We close ours off at night with insulated curtains and use an oil rad for winter. its only 4 x 3 roughly
One other big issue is the noise of the plastic roof as well. When it rains, unless its very thick quality polycarbonate you will get a huge amount of noise from a large plastic roof - try and see the property when its raining to see what I mean
Don't dismiss the house but work out what you would want to do to it and price accordingly0 -

That is a very good point. Ours has a glass roof so it isn't a problem when it rains but a polycarbonate roof is unbearable.0 -
Hi all,
Went to see it again tonight and I won't be putting offer in due to the conservatory. It did have 2 radiators and air conditioning but still not sold on conservatories.
Thanks everyone who replied. You certainly aided my decision.0 -

What did the owners say when you asked them how cold it got and what their fuel bills were like?0 -
They said "yeah it's fine" whilst looking uncomfortable. Didn't mention the bills as I knew I didn't want to go through with it as soon as I walked in it0
