I used to work in a Jobcentre, yes 99% of the time I'd leave around 4.00-4.30, but I started before 8am, other colleagues started later and left later - there were always people there from about 7.30 till 6.300

1. forgetting to set alarm for signing day/time then signing next day
2. getting signing week wrong because lot,s of stuff happening same day in previous week (could have swore i signed on in that week)..
so thought next signing fortnight later ...WRONG
3. have been missing A4A Working links Appointments due to not receiving appointment letters through post or emails or phone calls to tell me about these appointments (but cannot find way to prove it)..
SO I made mistakes And gave Explanations was not good enough
Jobcentre Decided to hit me with 2 big sanctions ..so far
sanction 1 and 2 (2 weeks benefit each sanction )craftily set one week apart so that i cannot claim hardship payments
So My Punishment for this is to be pushed into poverty..?
seem to remember at top of most unemployment letters "this what the LAW says you need to live on" around £67 a week ie not ZERO
and recently was late for a4e appointment so ..another automatic sanction letter dispatched
worried it will get worse

Anyways, if you imagined the signing on appointments as appointments at a market research company, who were prepared to pay you £70 a time, do you think they would pay based on your actions?
You really need to get a grip on your own attitude, for your own sake really. :cool:0 -

I do some voluntary work twice a month.
I write it down in my diary when I have to do it, so that I don't forget.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I don't think they get bonuses or targets for sanctions. My friend quit her job voluntarily, straight away put in a JSA claim and was given money and is still being paid. she would be an easy sanction now as she is not entitled to the benefit, goodness knows how she got it, but nobody has bothered to sanction her.
tell your friend GOOD LUCK and stay UNDER THE RADAR..

If you can't remember to sign on once a fortnight, how will you remember to attend a job interview if one is offered? :cool:0 -

Its been a great many years since I signed on but I always found the staff very nice and only too willing to help. I remember once going to sign on and had a broken arm. The supervisor took me to one side and said was I fit enough to work. i replied I still had the other arm to use and with that allowed me to continue.
Also I did temp work in between and advised them of my earnings and they just adjusted my payment next time.
I believe if you treat JSA staff with respect and they will equally show you some. However you always got the odd one.0
