From past experience I would echo others in stating make sure you clear of any personal data. An old computer can be a fraudsters treasure chest.0

Can I ask why? Pretty poor advice in my opinion to tar everybody with the same brush. If you're going to cast aspertions, it would be nice to have specific evidence to back up your comments, rather than a generic 'avoid them all'
Personally I can recommend http://www.laptopswapshop.com/ .
They sell ipads too.
Ok, so you may get a better price on ebay etc, but for many, there's a lot to be said for the no hassle route!
I suggest the sensible thing is to consider the risks of doing business with someone you don't know, can't see, have no info on. It would be better to suggest that always research any company you never heard of. At least ebay gives you some protection between buyer and seller.
If you do go ahead and use one of these companies, take photos before you send (inc s/n), and insure it for what you believe its worth before you post/courier it (see ebay completed listings for yr model to give you an idea).0 -
Or keep the lappy as there are always some things you can do on Windows you cannot on an iPad. You will only discover these after time with an iPad. The you can use Logmein (Free iPad app) to remote to that laptop from the couch when needed.
Also worth noting that the latest version of ccleaner has a disk scrubber (to remove remnants of what you think you have deleted) built into the tools selection.0 -
Keep the laptop for a while after getting the iPad, so that you see for yourself what each can do.
If you're worried about personal data and aren't sure what to do about cleaning the laptop, just sell the laptop without the hard drive. Take the drive out and keep it. There's no more secure method than that.
People here will be along in a minute advising you to take a club hammer to the drive, but that's just a waste of a perfectly good drive.0 -

I would say ebay it but at min I noticed not a lot of people seem to be buying on ebay or buying my items. I would say make sure you wipe the HDD correctly if you not sure take it to a store to get it done. If you don't people can get password, deleted images, deleted documents and much more from it so just be aware of this.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
