Hi guys,
I am just thinking about buying an ipad2 and now that they can be used as a standalone device i wondered whether i could sell my laptop in the same way that i recycle my mobile?
its only about 3 years old so its far from past it - its just i dont really need it anymore
Thanks, Matt

ebay, local paper free ads, many choices. Just be honest describing it and realistic on the price you hope to get. Post the make/model, spec and condition and we may be able to give you an idea.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Spend sufficient time deleting all of your personal data from it.
You might even consider reinstalling Windows on it if you can, and are confident you have all the Windows software and drivers, and, of course, the Product Key from the holographic sticker.0 -

Good suggestion - the easiest way to do this is:
1: create new user, and delete all previous users.
2. Download CleanDisk Security (or similar) and wipe all "cr*p" as well as cleaning the unused space.
On ebay you can search for your model and look at completed sales, should give you an idea of what you might get.0 -
I sold a 4 year old laptop running on vista, was stupidly slow for £65 on Ebay so not a lot but I assume they brought it as spares or to recon and sell on.0

Can I ask why? Pretty poor advice in my opinion to tar everybody with the same brush. If you're going to cast aspertions, it would be nice to have specific evidence to back up your comments, rather than a generic 'avoid them all'
Personally I can recommend http://www.laptopswapshop.com/ .
They sell ipads too.
Ok, so you may get a better price on ebay etc, but for many, there's a lot to be said for the no hassle route!0 -

Because mostly you're relying on someone you don't know, don't trust to sit in an office somewhere, taking a look at a laptop you consider to be something, and getting a report back of another. There is no bargaining, no finding the natural price for it, and you have no proof that the "marks" or problems that show up didn't magically happen.
People often post things in the worst way too (like the other sites that buy phones in a jiffy bag) and then they end up posting on here to say their phone was smashed, or broken upon arrival, therefore the site is a rip off (and no one knows in that case)
You are also sending a valuable product to a stranger on a unenforceable promise (as per their terms and conditions).
It's great that you had a good service from them, but I'd still never use them, nor recommend any sites like that.0 -

Because the price estimate 'offered' on their websites is often much higher than the price offered once they have your laptop, and should you not wish to proceed with the sale they charge a significant sum to return the item to you (per their T&Cs)
...and as you rightly say, you may get a better price on ebay etc, and this being a money saving site.....How do I add a signature?0 -
