If I was your landlord I'd give you notice to leave - you sound like you're deliberatley trying to be difficult. Why don't you just admit the fact you love the place and don't want the owner to sell it?
The owner has every right to sell it, and if you in any way try to hamper any potential sales by being difficult he's well within his rights to give you notice to leave. I guarantee when your contract is up he'll tell you you're out straight away if you keep being difficult.
Op has contracted to rent the property. A rental contract is for exclusive use. Now the bit I agree with is that the owner has the right to sell. But if they need to do viewings, then they should gain possession first. Or if they wish to sell tenanted, then they should fit around the OP, buying her cooperation if necessary.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. You seem to have a bit of a vendetta against people that rent for some reason?! (after reading your other posts on other threads) - just my humble opinion0 -

Breadlinebetty, I'm a landlord and I completely disagree with you and find you extremely rude and unfair. I really hope you aren't an Estate Agent or LL as that would worry me.
The OP is getting ALL of the inconvenience and NONE of the benefit at the moment. It sounds like they have been much more than reasonable so far. I wouldn't allow viewings when I was out even if it was me who had decided to sell, contracted the agents and was living there.
OP, one weekend morning a week is reasonable to me if the won't do an evening too. If LL kicks off, suggest they get a more flexible agent or compensate you for your time and effort.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Breadlinebetty - Are you my landlord?? I dont want it 'all my own way' I want to be in during viewings but I dont want ALL of the time spent in the home I am paying for spent doing viewings. As I said up to 3 evenings a week I would be happy with, but looking at others on here I am going to reduce that to 2 and remove weekends from the equation, then I know I have two days to myself.
Thank you everyone else. As I have said if it sells to a landlord I am more than happy to stay, so I dont want to put off any potential landlords (and if a landlord s put of by not having 24 hour free access to my home then I am better off without)
Everytime I offer the times the LA just KEEP bringing up 'we have management keys if you are not able to attend' and I keep saying 'Yes you said the last 6 times you called, its not happening....
Old Git - I reckon there is 0% chance of the Landlord/LA letting me do viewings :rotfl: (though to be fair the last viewers who came, clearly FTB's, I was helpful with and assured them against noise problems) but yeah, never happening :P0 -
I once tried to view a let property and was told convenient times would be in 4 months (at the end of their tenancy!). I totally understood (albeit a little disappointed as I had no idea it was let as rightmove just said 'no chain') as I wouldn't want anybody in my home. I remember selling my last house and keeping it all super viewing tidy for so long was a right pain (I'm no slob) but at least I would get the profit when it sold, poor tenant gets nothing only instability.

Not true when families turn up with small children as happened recently for us
EA busy showing mum and dad around one bedroom I was downstairs in kitchen, two young boys wandered into another converted loft room and were playing my husbands guitar
As soon as I heard the guitar I rushed upstairs and asked them to put it down EA didn't bat an eyelid that they were mooching about un accompanied parents didnt give a hoot either
It was a 2k Les Paul guitar my husbands hard earned pride & joy not a toy :cool:0 -

In all the viewings I have ever been to I have been left to my own devices for quite some time. The EA certainly wasn't keeping a watchful eye on me.
When I left my last place I was allowing viewings and the EA kept making excuses as to why he couldn't turn up so asked me to do the viewings myself.
I was appalled at the people he was sending round to my house late at night when I was a young woman living alone. At one point, I had three strange men turn up all at the same time - they were different appointments he'd only booked 5 minutes apart. One was out the back, one was in my living room, the other in my bedroom - all the while my front and back door had been left open. I was running around trying to make sure I knew where everyone was and shut the doors, but they kept going in and out the doors to check out the gardens.
Then a young woman, no more than 18, turned up with around 15 of her family. I think they were Irish travellers. Not all of them came inside but her mum, and a couple of aunts did, while the front door was open and the rest of them stood outside. The mother didn't put her cigarette out before coming into the house and finished it off while walking around and threw the butt out in my garden.
Needless to say, I was about to refuse all viewings after that, which I wasn't keen on as I really liked my LL, but fortunately a lovely lady from an earlier viewing had taken the flat.
There is pretty much no way I'd allow viewings when I was not in the house, and following my last experience, won't allow them without the EA present either.0 -
A piece of law that will be around for a long time: Ask for all correspondence be in writing from now on.
Send them a letter stating that they have been unreasonable so far (listing what has happened and what you have done) and untill a solution that you both agree on has been met you shall no longer allowing viewings to take place of the property. But state you are open for a solution you can both agree on.
An email would suffice aswell if its from a third party that you don't have access to the system of (e.g. google /msn / yahoo etc... are fine to use).0
