Seems like it is the EA who is being difficult. They want to arrange viewings during THEIR office hours and don't give a hoot what suits you or the prospective buyers.
Pretty much seems that way. They have very restrictive working hours IMO. Don't do Fridays, are apparently 'very busy' Mon/Tue so that leaves Wed/Thurs and alternate Saturdays apparently which never seem to materialise.0 -

and as for estate agents not taking their eyes of the viewers... i had an agent tell me to lie on someone's bed to "get a feel of the place" :eek:

OP, reasonable viewing hours are ones YOU are happy with. And I wouldn't worry about your clothes being on the floor or whatever - you aren't obliged to keep the house tidy for these viewings at all. It is first and foremost your home.0

Decide what you think is reasonable and convenient for you and put it in writing to the agent.
I wouldn't have strangers poking about in my home while I wasn't there either. I don't think that's odd even if I had a guarantee that there would be no risk of theft or anything else sinister.0 -
Thank you for the advice. I did put the last 'requirements' in writing and they have been followed (albeit with phonecalls asking to change and me having to say 'no, I've already stated suitable times etc')
Thanks for the reassurance it is me who sets the reasonableness. I really am not trying to be awkward but when they are asking for multiple viewings across multiple days its getting a bit ridiculous and I'd like to restrict it down to no more than 3 days a week. I want to be home for viewings but at the same time I dont want all of my free time taken up with home viewings!0 -

Disagree. Viewed lots of property where the agent had the key to the property. Agent showed us round and then said 'feel free to have another look around' and didn't follow us the second time. So yes, stuff can easily get nicked. Wanted to open the built in cupboards one time to see how deep they were, didn't really want to poke my nose in other peoples belongins, so asked the agent instead and got the response "Oh, it'll be fine. Go ahead.".
So yes, I'd be VERY nervous about an agent viewing a house if I was at work at the time. I'd be wanting to follow them everywhere they went, and I'd probably try to restrict viewings to weekends only (at times that suit me, I'm not going to waiting in for a viewer that might never show when I'm paying the rent). If the LL wants more flexibility, he should wait until I've left!0 -
This is crazy - I would NEVER EVER let some view my place without me being there... like someone mentioned earlier on most viewings the viewer is recommend to 'have a wonder around' by themselves. It doesn't take 5 seconds to pick something up and put it in your pocket.
You may not even notice the item has gone missing for days or even weeks - could you imagine trying to figure out the person that has stolen some expensive watch that was 'hidden' deep in a bedroom drawer. Would be even harder if you've had multiple viewings - stick to your guns you are paying rent... either way look for another place to stay as your LL seems like a bit of an ar*e0 -
How about YOU do the viewings in the evenings .That way you get to interrogate the prospective buyers .This will give you a better idea as to there plans ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

If you don't mind me saying you seem to want everything YOUR way.
You don't want people viewing while you're out
And you don't want the hassle of having to be there when they view!
If I was your landlord I'd give you notice to leave - you sound like you're deliberatley trying to be difficult. Why don't you just admit the fact you love the place and don't want the owner to sell it?
The owner has every right to sell it, and if you in any way try to hamper any potential sales by being difficult he's well within his rights to give you notice to leave. I guarantee when your contract is up he'll tell you you're out straight away if you keep being difficult.0
