Hi, first timer here, so apologies if I'm in the wrong place.
Just trying this company"voip discount", and it talks about "free days" and free calls to many destinations. I deposited my €10, and have just tried it with a local call and see I was charged 5p for a few minutes. Does anyone know where the free bit comes in, or how I ensure I use the free days?
Many thanks.

Welcome
If you use the client program to dial out, then it will be free to the listed destinations.
But if you set up callback, what they term direct call, between two numbers, then there is a connection fee though the time is free.0 -
Ok, many thanks, that´s what I did, used the direct dial. It´s probably there somewhere, but I didn´t see it!

Is your deposit of €10 lost after the three months is up, if you don't use it all?
I think that happens with Skype, but can't find it in the voipdiscount literature.
Thanks0 -
thought I`d hijack this thread
I`m interested in using voipdiscount in particular because of the free calls to Thailand.......but how have people so far found their service? any problems? Thought I`d ask before I part with my money.
The other question was payment method. I`m a bit unclear as to the whole payment methods through things like Western Union / Bank Transfer / Text Messaging / Voucher etc. What do you all use? I was hoping there`d be something like paypal but that`s not an option unfortunately
Thanks in advance!0 -

No, your €10 credit isn't lost after 4 months, after 4 months you simply pay the published non-free rate to the free destinations.
I have used VoIPDiscount and several of there sister services and have had no problems with them for the years I've been with them.
http://www.backsla.sh/betamax compares the prices of the various offshoots, note some have 90 free days, most have 120 free days. One or two offer free calls if you use their software, but not if you use 3rd party software or hardware.
I use a SIP ATA (analogue telephone adapter) and have connected up several phones included DECT phones and it's set up so anyone using it wouldn't know it wasn't a normal landline. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
