Thanks for that! Not a Barclays customer Realise now that probably I could have used one of the free security as I am not using this computer since I got my Laptop on 1st Feb! There are certain things I do use it for. I had been concerned re the keyboard on a laptop but I find I have adjusted to the keyboard. However if I was doing some lengthy document then I can type much faster on the Desktop and with little error! I would not buy another Desktop if and when it packs in as a lot of the use I make is for surfing ordering things on line Grocery shopping etc and some letters and email etc. Thanks again

Thank for that How do I do this The desktop is on a trolley with the printer below. A bit of a confined space as it is partially in a cupboard. I thought I would need to plug the laptop into the printer and I can't see where I would do so. Advice would be appreciated

whatever you do - uninstall properly before downloading new ones.0

Kaspersky tells you to download the file and then turn off the installed one before installing the new one.
The installation finds the "old" version and deletes as appropriate.
Open a Barclays account and put a tenner in and back out every now and then. No minimum on the account so you get KIS for free and for up to 3 computers.0 -
I just installed the new one without uninstalling anything. It looks like all is well in that I can bring up Kaspersky and it tells me my computer is protected. Does this mean that I have no problem and I can leave it as it is? Thanks also for the Barclays tip!0

If your PC is not being used and not connecting to the internet then you really don't have to worry about viruses. The only way you can infect it is to introduce an infection physically by plugging in a USB flash drive or on a CD etc.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Mixed messages from Kaspersky who here recommend uninstalling any old versions first - and say it is essential if you are an XP user.Kaspersky tells you to download the file and then turn off the installed one before installing the new one.

If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you can choose to install [KIS2012] on top of your current version or, as we advise, uninstall your current version via Uninstall Program. (You can find this by clicking on Start > Control Panel> Uninstall a program or Programs and Features). If you are running Windows XP you must remove the currently installed version using the special Kaspersky removal tool
