Yeah exactly that, just wanted to see if anyone else had sent the same info back.
Thanks for that though. So the eight weeks is from the date they received my form?0 -

So, I get home from a weekend in Cambridge visiting my girlfriend to a letter from HSBC. Fully expected a refusal. However they're upholding my claim and I'm getting over £9k back!!! This means I can pay off all my outstanding debt!
Thank you everyone for your advice and help.0 -
Well done

My 8 week deadline is up Tomorrow (16/08/12) I phoned HSBC last week as I had not heard anything and they advised me it has been picked up on 25/7/12. Is it normal for them to Leave it this late? I suppose I'll be calling Ombudsman in the morning........0

The next letter (in a few weeks) will tell you that they "regret to advise you that our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding your complaint are not yet complete". The full and final response (which is the only important one) will be along around eight weeks from the date of your original complaint.
This matches my experience so far. Received the "regret to inform you" letter after about 5 weeks after the acknowledgement letter. We're now 2 weeks further down the line so hoping for a settlement letter soon.
Have no idea how much I borrowed from them, but know I had a loan (that was topped up several times) from 1998 onwards until approx 2012....0 -
I submitted ppi claim forms back to hsbc where I said I couldn't recall the exact conversations, but for two of the loans was in employment, and said I could have had family help if I missed payments. Did I do it wrong? I don't like to lie about conversations I can't recall from 1998, 2001 and 2007!! I'm sure I was recommended to take PPI, but is that convincing or valid enough for them to take seriously?0

It's the weakest complaint you can make because it's "hearsay" for which you can provide no evidence. Unless the Bank finds evidence of other wrong-doing (or you get lucky with an auto-payout) then you can expect a rejection.swisstony49 wrote: »I'm sure I was recommended to take PPI, but is that convincing or valid enough for them to take seriously?0
