Hi, I am a broadband novice and want to progress from my current dial up AOL. Does anyone know how much notice I need to give to AOL to be able to move to broadband with a service provider such as Madasafish - which seems generally recommended on here. As I would like to sign up for broadband as soon as possible - the Madasafish website say up to 6mb speed for my postcode area which seems good to me. Please let me know. Thanks a lot. Gavin.

If you're on the standard dial-up internet that is billed on your regular phone bill, and you have no direct debits or other payment options, you can just move without giving notice.
for monthly billed dialup (which I think AOL does if I'm remembering correctly), you usually have to give one month's notice - although it might be less for dialup. You will then need to sign up with madasafish, and wait for your line to be broadband enabled. this can take up to two weeks, you'll be given a go live date by the new internet provider.

Phone AOL cancellations and see what they offer you. If you like AOL that is? I have been with them a while and got offered a free Wi Fi modem, broadband and unlimited phone package for £14.99. I can't beat that and it was just what I needed anyway.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

Thankyou to patwa and N9eav - very useful advice. I think I will try AOL cancellations first and see what they offer me. Gavin0
