Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 21st April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning :hello: :D

I haven't felt this energetic for months. Throw anything at me today and I'll cope, if anyone tries to give me grief it'll bounce right off me and back onto them. lol.

The house is looking much better and the garden is slowly being tidied too. I actually feel organised :D

I'm going to do my tax return today then plan for my biz. First on the list is finding fetes in my area, we don't seem to have many round here any more. I found a craft website the other day, it's run by a woman who organises fayres in town so I'll investigate that too.

I also need to sort out paperwork, I've been given a huge file with hundreds of those pocket things (name escapes me atm!) so I'll put that to good use.

The weather's not great today so the guinea pigs will have to run around in the kitchen when I clean them out.

I opened a bottle of wine yesterday, might finish it off this afternoon :D

Tru - poly pockets? can I have some of your energy please?!

I'm awake stupidly early :( typical.

I need to finish my uni assignment today, I just can't seem to write the last part. Probably because we haven't actually been taught the subject cos the tutor is never there. 500 words to go! Hoping to get most of it done this morning so I can meet the girls for lunch and spot of shopping, need new sunglasses cos I mislaid mine yday :( only Primark £1 ones but I really liked them!

OS wise - dishes to wash, lunch/dinner will be either from freezer or be using up fresh stuff before going away Mon. Payday yday so need to shift some money around, extra £22 in my pay this month, thank you Taxman! :T

    Have a good day all

DW has finished, WM is on it's first load. Hubby is working overtime today, but not starting 'til 8:30, so we have a leisurely start to the day.
I start breakfast soon, once I've dropped him off I shall plant up my 8 hanging baskets & then do some housework.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning morning. Off to edinburgh today for busy day starting at 9:15 so do need to get up. But thought i'd say morning first. After work really getting on top of me tuesday decided i really had to be more proactive about sorting things out (difficult when your snowed under, stressed to the eye balls an exhausted).

Thursday morning shifted all piles of papers etc from my office into phd students room, washed down desk (having been an office cleaner certainly not blaming the cleaner -my room was a nightmare!) and had chat with lne manager. I pointed out that due to staff shortages and deadlines i lost 15 days holiday last year and so far this year have managed 7 not even counting all the sundays i've worked :-( no wonder i'm so tired.

Think she was a little shocked. She'd been feeling hard done by for losing 9. She did then take some of my marking off me ;-) then yesteday we got the sign off for not one but to new teaching staff and i've almost got the go ahead(been ok'd by course director) to approach 2 people to co-author modules with me. So things might be about to improve. It's a fab job, i love every part of it but there is just toooooo much and i really want to do a good job of student support (which as we know is time consuming) OH coming upstairs to check i'm up oops better go have a good day all xxx

    Good Morning All

Having a slow start here as didn't get home from work till 12.30 last night. Just having a surf catching up with blogs whilst the kids are still in bed.

Plans today are - spend no money :o as things are very tight at the moment. OH is taking DS to footie training this morning so I will be catching up on the washing and doing more housework. Have got quite a quiet week planned so want to be back up straight and organised this time next week.

Not sure what is for dinner tonight but will have a good look around the freezers today and make an inventory then menu plan for the week. Both freezers and the store cupboard are full so hopefully won't need to spend too much on groceries.

So quite an unexciting day planned :rotfl: hope to have a good morning then veg out on the sofa later.

    Have a great day all.x

Well change of plans already. Need to take neighbours cat to vets for her as he's got a poorly tail he can't lift. She can't get time off work so will take him down for her.
After that I will go shopping and forget shoe shopping. Oh well save my pennies for another day. A sign I am not supposed to spend my birthday money yet :rotfl::rotfl:

Tru :rotfl: at Polly Pocket :rotfl:

    Morning all,

Its bright and beautiful here, so wm is on, and another 2 loads to go today, should hopefully get a bit of air before the rain starts again.

Dinner tonight is the steak sandwich from last night with garlic mushrooms, grilled toms etc. Last night I was in a cba mood, so we had pasta with butter and cheese.

Talking of cheese, co-op have got a nice wyke farm mature chedder on at buy one get two free atm, I got 6 packets yesterday (paid for 2), its really nice, the chap at the till gave me a £1 off voucher, so will go and get more today and stock up. :T

Today we need to hoover through, and tidy up downstairs, OH will fit the new door bell, the last one has broken, so this one is a plug in one, saves changing the batteries all the time, and is really low cost.

I also want to get some paint for the loo, we need kitchen and bathroom paint, to be able to wash down, but its sooooo expensive, so will shop around.

    Have good days all xxxx

Morning all a late start for me today as it's the weekend:j It's sunny and warm here (so far) so Jack and I had a longer walk and he met one of his doggy chums and we walked with her and her owner. Much nicer dog walking when you can have a chat.
Plans for today are to do a freezer list and make a meal plan then shopping-so exciting. WM will go on as soon as DH is out of shower.
Glad to see you are feeling more energetic Tru and glad you got some help with work DD nothing worse than feeling overwhelmed. Well done Bitsy for being a good neighbour but shame about not going shoe shopping. Good luck with the Uni assignment FB. Hugs to all who need them and have a good day all.:)
