If this is a repeat I apologise, but a quick trawl has only brought up very old threads.
Just this week discovered that if you have a meter with Anglian there is a low user- Solow- tariff. I was never told this when I finally got a meter last July.
Upshot today ,when a kind neighbour read my meter (seems to be half way down to Australia!!) I have been on the standard tariff wrongly. Nice lady on phone backdated it, £130 in credit and money going back to bank a/c!!.
My monthly payments have gone from £45 (unmetered) to £14.
To qualify with Anglian Water you need to be using less than 75 litres per year.

A quick calculation would mean that 69 cubic metres on Solow would cost £320.40 and on standard it would cost £320.90. Any higher than 70 cubic metres per year and standard is cheaper.
It's only really good for single people who would always use less than 70 cubic metres per year. A couple would normally use around 100 cubic metres per year and could reduce usage to 70 cubic metres with some effort but wouldn't be able to reduce much further to be able to save anything worthwhile.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Ah ha, I was never told the ins & outs- but as I am away a lot and therefore at that time using no water so it works just fine for me (and saves 30pence per day in standing charges.) About £300 saving over the rateable value charges- can't be bad.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
