Ahh, that's where the postcode comes in.....

Doh ......*slaps myself*......course it does. :D
Herman - MP for all! :)
  • Yup I did look at feedback but nothing there :(

Oh and the item I received is new with tags. One says new with tags but I can see in the pic the tag string and plastic is still on it but the one I got has the piece of card as well so it can't really be that one!

The other one doesn't specify so I could message them and ask if it was under the pretence that I have one that I want to sell and want to see if it reaches the same amount?!

    The plot thickens!:)

I have to say that sound unnecessarily complicated, mate :D just explain that you have received an item in error that could possibly have come from them. After all, if they want it back then the post code will have to tie in.

Oooh, had another thought, if they are a business seller their postcode should be in their contact details at the bottom of the page. If not then their item location should be a clue. Google the postcode for a general area indication (other search engines are available ;) )

Its a real puzzle, isn't it? I mean, how on earth did they get your address? Perhaps one of the sellers you are waiting for accidentally wrapped their own new top up and sent it off.

(Weird things do happen, my Husband managed to wrap his mobile phone into my Christmas present, lol)

A seller won't have got your address from thin air, so you must have bought from them at some point.
Have you received everything yet that you've recently bought?
People do sometimes go out for the day or even a few days & take their ebay stuff with them to post, rather than sending them late.

Agreed, the postcode doesn't necessarily indicate anything, I often take items with me when I'm away for the weekend and don't want to delay posting so my parcels come from all sorts of postcodes at times!
  • do you sell on ebay could it be one of your buyers has mixed up you with someone whos bought from them ifyswim????

I'll second this. In fact, none of the items I sell would have my postcode as I always bring them to work and post them from the Post Office nearby.
  • Hi all
thanks for all the ideas and support

Graspthenettle - lol - that is exactly what my OH said. I'm trying to overcomplicate things!

The plot does thicken... The last thing I was waiting for arrived today! And it can't be one of the two I found on the search as they don't have the right tags on the pictures.

Also, when I checked postcodes, none came near. I understand people post from work but none where even in that part of the country so only if they'd 'gone away' or their ebay data is wrong would that be wrong.

yes I sell on ebay but why would someone send me something if I'd sold to them? How would they know my address?

If I've searched ebay and only found 2 of these items how else would they have been on there? Where else would a top come from?!

    What shall I do now?!

  • All solved!:j

I did another search and kept it just to the name of the shop it came from and found it! Indeed it was someone who had sent me another item. Hopefully it will all be resolved when they've message me back.
    Thanks everyone :)

  • Well done Egyptiangirl for being so honest. I'm the same and I like to think someone at some point will do the same for me.
