Changing network-what to do & when?
Firstly, sorry if this has already been covered in other posts; i couldn't find anything..
My current 24mth contract with o2 is due to finish 25th April and i want to change to t-mobile as the o2 reception has become really bad at home since we had some building work done (not sure if linked?) and i've seen a good deal on mobiles.co.uk.
Can someone please advice which order i should do things, so that i:
1. Keep my number
2. Don't end up paying twice for May's bill
3. Move to t-mobile asap after 25th
4. Can start using my new phone with new number straight away when it arrives
Ok, reading that back i sound really greedy! :embarasse
Thanks in advance for advice

It is your minimum term that finishes on the 25th, not the contract.
As you have to give at least 30 days notice to finish the contract, you are probably late already.- http://www.mobiles .co.uk/faq-number-porting.html
- Call your provider and ask for a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code). It lasts for 30 days. Buy a new contract and port the number a few days before 30 days expire. You are still likely to 'pay twice' for a few days the contracts overlap.
3-4. To avoid paying twice call today and ask to switch your contract to PAYG in 30 days. Ask for a confirmation by a mail or e-mail. In 30 days buy a new contract and when the new phone arrives get the PAC from the old provider and give it to t-mobile.0 -

Thank you; i'll start by ringing o2 then and asking for the PAC code then and take it from there.

Of course you've already checked and are confident that the new network provides acceptable service? Finding this out after changing is a nightmare.0

Yes, thanks Buzby. I got a few free sims and tried them all. T-mobile was the strongest signal at home & work.
