Not an awful lot left in my local for Christmas stuff but I did manage to get big packs of bows for 20p a pack, 5 rolls of wrapping paper for 20p a roll, small kraft style Christmas cards (pk of 20) for 20p and rolls of ribbon for 20p. Also got a family organiser calendar (space for 5 names) for 50p which I'm really pleased with, I usually spend a lot on one of those but hadn't got round to getting one.

Also got myself a pair of Gumy headphones for £3 in their general sale which will do me for wearing under a hat to work instead of my big on ear ones in the cold weather. :)

Still loads of jars of mincemeat in Bath, but that's it for christmas reductions other than a few cake decorations.

I've made the Aldi cookie recipe - word of warning they spread massively! I had one huge cookie on each tray, but fortunately they have cut up ok. I probably used too much mixture on each as the texture currently looks very spongy. I'm sure they'll be fine to have with a cup of tea though.

May we have the cake recipe please ?
    I made it up :o

I used the standard hummingbird recipe - same weight of everything - but used 1/2 sunflower oil and 1/2 butter to keep it moist and drastically reduced the sugar content because the mincemeat - added at the end - was so sweet. When completely cool I syruped it with the juice of 2 oranges plus 4 tbsp of sugar (sweet enough to be pleasant to drink).

    From memory:
    - 400g fat
    - 100g sugar
    - 400g s/r flour plus 1tsp baking powder
    - 400g egg (weighed with shells on)
    - 2*400g (in reality 410g jar) mincemeat

    - juice of 2 oranges
    - 4 tbsp sugar

This makes a big old cake! :)

Just edited this as I made the cake again last night - it was actually 2 jars of mincemeat I used. You could use more if you want it fruitier, this is about right but one jar would not really give you much fruit to a pound cake. I also experimented with substituting some of the butter with natural yoghurt and added some more mixed spice. Yum!
