Was on the prowl for prunes earlier, no luck unfortunately.traceyamandataylor wrote: »Sainsbury own brand mincemeat (red label) 411g jar - 10p!! The exipry date is November 2014.VfM4meplse wrote: »it made a huge cake.
My trial was based on this recipe, but I left the fruit and nuts out and used the whole jar of mincemeat, and less fat as the mincemeat contains vegan "suet", hence the proportions I posted above. I wouldn't recommend not using a bundt tin though, as otherwise it will take ages to cook inside.fruit cake I've ever made!

Several items in the Great British Bake off range are now 70% off. Was in a rush, so only noticed the baking sheet was £2.70,reduced from £9, and ceramic baking beans in glass jar were about £1.800

I got a couple of cake tins and a really nice flan tin, I had been looking for one for a while. They had some electric scales and mixing bowls. Some egg shaped biscuit cutters. I could have spent a fortune! This was in London Colney.0 -
Sainsburys, Pinhoe Road, Exeter yesterday:
Aunt Bessies frozen Onion Rings - 50p
15 Fishfingers (Birdseye) - 50p
12 Profiteroles (frozen) - 50p
"SO" Sinful Bodyspray (purple canister) - 40p
Also
Loads of 10pence dried fruits
Almond, Raisin & Berry Mix 60g
Bite Size Apricots 35g
Oceanspray Craisins (dried Cranberries) 150g
Fruit Factory 12 lunch box mini snacks
There were other dried fruits being reduced down to 10p but I didn't hang around.
The dried fruit reductions will be Nationwide apparently as they are changing the packaging on their own brands and some of the lines they stock from bigger Manufacturers, so keep a look out. (This info from the lady doing the price reductions and is in charge of price control)
A good tip is to keep a lookout in the freezer section of your Sainsbury's as there are very often reductions of 75% as they regularly change stock/packaging in my experience. I have had some blinding bargains in there in the past.

These are £7.99 in my local store (Bishop Auckland), and the rest of the range is only 1/3 off too. I would have thought they'd stick to the same offers?0 -
I went in to my local sainsburys to see if they had any of the "Bake off" range left. I was delighted to see bulging shelves of the whole range, but nothing was marked as 70% off. Went to CS desk to say I'd bought something from the shop 15 miles away at 70% off, and they said each store had different prices, and the other shop would have been discontinuing it.
Also, no dried fruit down to 10p, but some was marked at 20% off0 -

Even stores in the same town can vary. I bought a toilet brush last year for £3.50ish & it was over £6 in the other store. Same with pillowcases - bought a pack of fuschia pink for £1.50, other store had only reduced them to £3. And I've noticed the candles & room sprays often differ in price when they've been reduced.
On a different note, I went in to get some more prunes yesterday & at least half the baking shelves are empty - looks like there's been a load of bargains that I've missed0 -
