Just back from Sainsbury's where this great pan is marked at £13.50, 70% off. None of the rest of the range is reduced, just this pan. Amazing value.

  • I picked up a kingsize bedding set (bed in a bag set) for £15-75% off. They had other bits in the home clearance section. This was a warrington branch btw.

Just to let you know this makes an excellent vegan light fruit cake, made by volume - as tried and tested by me yesterday.

For every part of mincemeat, use 0.5 water, 0.3 oil, 0.5 sugar, 1.75 flour, spice mix to taste, baking powder (you do need to be accurate about this, according to the amount of flour you use).

This sounds gorgeous and I'd love to try it, but am a bit mathematically challenged :o Don't suppose you could post an actual recipe? I was lucky enough to pick up quite a lot of the Sainsbury's mincemeat with the long date on it at a bargain price too.

It was good, and it made a huge cake.

My trial was based on this recipe, but I left the fruit and nuts out and used the whole jar of mincemeat, and less fat as the mincemeat contains vegan "suet", hence the proportions I posted above. I wouldn't recommend not using a bundt tin though, as otherwise it will take ages to cook inside.

Second one going in the oven this afternoon :D
