how do i go about contacting the financial ombudsman???
You can contact them for basic advice by phone http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html

They will not take on the case until you have exhausted the complaint process at your insurers or 8 weeks after the date you register your complaint (whichever is first).

Be aware that the FOS are not a fast moving organisation even after they accept the case - my complaint about my bank took 11 months from the date of complaint to resolve and my insurance complaint still hasnt been allocated to an adjudicator after the complaint was escalated to the FOS back in November.

    Not really.

Your insurance was voided because you didn't disclose it, which they seem to have taken to be a deliberate attempt to deceive and get cheaper insurance.

I thought a DR10 was on your licence for 11 years?

So nowhere near expired. 2018 ?? Or has this changed?

When you did the dummy quote did you also disclose you had a policy cancelled for fraud/failing to disclose?

I think your going to be uninsurable for some time. Unless you win the lottery on a triple rollover.

my understanding is the endorsement stays for 11 years but the conviction is spent after 5. The endorsement remains to allow courts to cane repeat offenders but insurance companies can't take it into account after five years. It might help.

The only (slim) chance the OP has is to convince Hastings (or the FOS) that the disclosure wasn't deliberate. From the options I'm guessing the OP has no chance of convincing anyone it falls under the "innocent" definition, the very best he can hope for is "inadvertent" http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/ombudsman-news/46/46_non_disclosure_insurance.htm

If he manages this hurdle then the voiding should be undone and the £10k claim paid by Hastings BUT only if they would have insured him had they known the full circumstances.

Anyway you cut it, the OP has a seriously uphill battle ahead and frankly in my view, little chance of a happy outcome

When they voided my insurance they returned my premiums which they wouldn't of done if they believed it to be deliberate fraud!!
