VOID Car Insurance

hi all
i have had my car insurance void last year as i forgot to mention a dr10, i thought it was spent but i was a couple months out, my own fault i know.
any way i rear ended someone at a roundabout at literally 5mph.
14months later i have received a letter stating i owe 9k to cover what they paid out to the 3rd party within 2 weeks or i will go to court.
is there anyway i can reduce this figure or what is the minimum monthly installments i could get away with as i simply dont have the cash.
the other thing is that i had no chance to contest the 2 whiplas claims which total 2k. the car damage was only 1k but it is the 6k legal expenses that really seems far too expensive.
any advice would be appreciated/

Speak to them about paying on the drip. They won't be bluffing about pursuing you through court!0

And presumably now you'll be done for driving with no insurance and without care and attention too making any future insurance options unlikely.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Not by the court the insurer is threatening - that will be a county court over the debt, nothing to do with any driving charges!
The OP would have heard long ago about any police charges0 -
They will be claiming back only what they have actually paid out, they wont be charging anything for their own time for having handled the claim for you.
Ultimately you need to speak to them. There is no guidelines on affordability as if it is to go to court the court makes its own difference. Insurers however generally wont want to throw good money after bad and you dont want the cost of a court case added ontop of what you already owe.
Pick up the phone and speak to them about a repayment plan. You may need to ultimately put it in writing with evidence of your income/ outgoings etc to substantiate you are being reasonable in your repayment offer.0 -
Have a read of......

and particularly (depending on dates)

and see if you can make a case for getting the voiding overturned as if you don't then your insurance life is going to be blighted just about forever to say nothing of the £10k they are going to chase you for.
When was your conviction?.0 -

What was the date of conviction?0 -
conviction was june 07!!!
for some reason i stupidly thought it was spent without checking the dates!! completely my fault i know!
it happened 14months ago and havent heard anything from the police so im guessing, (hoping) no charges will be brought against me.
i dont want to be disclosing my incomings and out goings to a insurance company as i believe it to be private.
will it be the case off if i am offering to pay something, its better than nothing and they will be happy with that.
also how do i go about over turning the voiding???
thanks for the help guys!0 -

dont think many people can repay 9k in under 6months!!!
asking for 9k will ruin most peoples lifes im sure im not in the minority here. the other option facing me may be bankruptcy which will result in the insurance company receiving nothing!
how do i go about contacting the financial ombudsman???
from the links provided above there may be the chance of getting the fee proportionally reduced depending how the perceive my non-disclosure to be.0 -
your conviction isn't spent until June 2012, as the accident happened at least 14 months ago your "i thought it was spent but i was a couple months out" isn't going to hold much water so I think your are going to struggle to get it overturned.
Having said all that, you have nothing to lose by trying (apart from some time) so have a read of the links above and see if you can cobble together some sort of argument to put to your former insurance company but I think you are facing an uphill battle which you are likely to lose (and in this case I'm tempted to add "rightly so")
Being accidentally out by a couple of months is just about believable, being out by the thick end of two years is stretching credulity too far0
