Ukpc parking ticket -- unfair

I parked in a "UKPC" controlled carpark in Hatfield my Pay & Display free 1 hour ticket inadvertently had blown over on my dash on closing my car door. I was in the shop for no more that 20 minutes and to my horror there was a "PARKING FINE" stuck on my windscreen on my return -£40 fine. Very expensive shop. Having looked on there website they show a photo of my dashboard with the overturned ticket. Surely this is an unfair fine? Should I ignore please?

For a start it's not a FINE, it's an unenforceable invoice which you can ignore. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

It is indeed an unfair 'fine'. Well, actually its not even a fine, its an invoice dressed up to look like a fine. They are inviting you to pay their invoice for breach of contract. Under civil contract law they are allowed to pursue the driver of the vehicle for the actual losses they have suffered as a result of your indiscretion.
As you obtained a ticket, then their losses are actually zero. So they cannot pursue you for any more than zero.
They know this, but they think you don't know this so they will attempt to scare you into paying by sending a string of scary letters (perhaps even from Debt Collectors and possibly even a pretend solicitor) threatening you with court, CCJs, bad credit, death penalty, all sorts.
They WON'T take you to court on it though, they'd lose very badly. They will just send the letters and hope you pay up.
Ignore them, ignore their letters, and do not contact them.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Don't waste any more time on this. You did nothing wrong and these scammers are akin to a protection racket. They cannot enforce this charge in any way because they have no lawful grounds for making it.
Don't appeal, don't reply, just ignore the garbage they send you. If you want a preview look in the thread second down from the top on the forum list. They send the same rubbish to everyone and then give up if you don't fall for it.0 -
As above

With the addition that if its only the dash they are showing on the invoice then it proves sweet fa, could be my dash board for what its worth !
Any how ignore it or have a read of https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3798967 see just how corrupt UKPC really are.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0
