When your claim is renewed you sometimes get a seperate single payment just to balance the account out. Then your normal payments resume either each week or month, dependant on how you recieve them.

I dont wish to pry into your circumstances OP but last year claimants recieving benefits had their claims renewed automatically, so maybe that is what has happened. I dont see anything wrong with asking your question on here. This is a money saving site after all and if you can avoid an expensive phone call to the helpline then why not ask. Its not as if there aren't loads of us on here who wont be familiar with how it all works.

Was it your usual pay day you got extra payment?
If not when do you get paid and weekly/monthly?
