Extra Payment Of CTC

I got my usual tax credits yesterday and have just looked at my online banking and another payment for a higher amount has gone in today! Can anyone shed any light on why this may have happened, I havent sent anything into them this year nor have my circumstances changed

Have you still got last year's award notice? It should have a schedule of payments which might shed some light on it.

No offense, but why on earth would anyone know why you have received an additional payment? The only ones who would know would be the ones who gave you the money - they would be the obvious ones to ask.

Why ask any questions on here then if you can phone the real people for real answers?

I know it's not but what if everyone got a double pay as gesture of good will and they never knew? Damn attitude problem...

No need to be so snotty, OP was only asking a question!

OP it may be an extra payment of what they owe you from the last tax year as lots of people tend to get an extra payment anytime from april- june time, i would give them a ring just to make sure :)

Damn attitude problem.........ok.......for asking why a question was asked that no-one on here would ever be able to answer.

I'm sorry, but how would you not know you if you had been paid double? In my experience, the majority of Tax Credit claimants will be straight on the phone if they have been paid ANYTHING different to what they normally get as they know to the penny what they are expecting.

Well I wont bother asking any more questions on here then, I moderate a well known forum and if anyone replied to a poster like this on there it wuld be an immediate suspension. I asked incase anyone had had one and they would know the reason why, well I phoned them and no now so I wont bother with here anymore

Hi, I have had this today also. I believe the Tax Credits dept can pay the increase in tax credits as a one of payment. At least that is what has happened with mine in the past. Double check on your award notice and give them a quick ring when you get the chance.

Yeah i used to get the same pay out's. £300+ each year in April but never got it last year as system was correct for once.
  • Hi

I renewned on Thursday and was told I may get an extra payment. I earned nearly £1000 less than last year and overestimated my income so will have to wait and see. I don't normally get one so not expecting one. I was also told not to contact tax credits for 6 weeks as it could take this long to get my letter with payment breakdown.
