Toyota Aygo

Nice, but the Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 are a more cost effective buy.
All made in the same factory in the Czech Republic.0 -
I nearly bought one of these in January but I had heard they had a problem with leaks. Since the car I was changing already had this problem and that was the reason I was getting rid of it, I opted not to bother and went for a nice dry car instead. Incidentally, the car I bought was kept outside at the garage and the Aygo was inside which rang alarm bells.
I think it's your luck of the draw whether you get a leaky one or not, I couldn't afford take the chance. Other than that, they seem to be nice cars.0 -
I have a 59 plate Aygo Blue and find it great for short journeys. Space in the boot, like all similar sized cars, is limited but the seats fold easily for luggage etc. Currently I am driving 120 miles a day and find it keeps up with motorway traffic pretty well but don't expect to overtake too many other vehicles as the < 1000cc engine doesn't have much in the way of poke although its fine once it is going.
I think early examples suffered from the leaks via the glass tailgate but I think it must have been addressed as I haven't had any issues.
The leak issue is covered on some of the Toyota/Aygo forums

My cousin has one, bought new about 4 or 5 months ago. She is getting around 65mpg in local driving. She loves it but she did have a mid 90s Fiesta before;).0

I have a 60 plate Aygo Blue. Bought brand new from Toyota dealer. Comes with Bluetooth and Aircon.
I had issues with a leak and it had to go back to the dealer 4 times before it was sorted. It was a tiny missing bit of welding underneath the car, nothing to do with seals around the doors as they thought. Most of the cars which had leak problems were solved with replacement seals but mine took longer because it wasn't the seals. The dealership were really good, courtesy car each time, Toyota head office were also involved and they made sure that everything was sorted eventually.
I have lots of friends with the same car who haven't had any problems at all, just the luck of the draw really. I knew this before i bought the car but it didn't stop me buying it anyway. Lots of new cars have problems.
I love my AYGO, it's cheap to run, i get about 350 miles on a full tank (about £40), the road tax is only £20 (nothing for the first year) and cheap to insure. Sure, it's not the fastest car in the world and you have to think before you overtake but i would definately buy another.0 -

With the cost of fuel nower days... performance is the last thing on a lot of peoples minds! I'd prefer a car that is comfy, can keep up with the motorway traffic and get good mpg!0 -

Me too, if you're worried about performance, don't buy an Aygo if you like to be the fastest on the road.:) No problems on the motorway though, uphill overtaking needs a bit of planning, especially if there's a headwind :eek:0 -
We've had ours over 5 years. It did have a leak, but all sorted by Toyota.
All in all it does what it is designed to do very well - a cheap runabout - £20 a year tax, 45mpg as a minimum (500 miles from a tank is achievable if you do longer trips at sensible speeds), cheap servicing and parts.
I have no probs on motorways, it has an excellent gearbox and 3rd gear is good for 80mph.
Aircon is worth having.0 -
I'm mainly looking to save money! I'd be buying a second hand one, probably one of the earliest 06/07 models.
I mainly use it to drive to work and back (no motorways involved) and around London. Only motorway it will see is a twice yearly trip London-Manchester and maybe a few short trips to places on days out.
Put it this way, I've done 5100 miles in my current car which I have had for 13 months now. Only thing in my boot is my 'car essentials kit' and a few Tesco bags. Can only recall twice having a passenger in the rear seats on my current car.
Sounds like a good option...0
