  • Hi everyone:D - having a bit of a mixed week.....

Good New dog-let arrived earlier in the week :j and is settling in well. Cats are in hiding upstairs :( but hopefully everyone will settle down quickly:)

Bad Someone tried to put over £3.5k through on my cc on online sites on Mon & Tues:eek: luckily the cc company picked it up quickly & it is "being investigated" and sorted out but they have obviously had to cancel my card.... It takes up to 10 days to get a new one issued / sent :( - not great for someone who budgets by paying everything on the cc and paying it in full at the month end:(.

I am hopeless with cash and never use my debit card for the above reason and am really struggling without the cc:( - also means cash-flow is really tight this month (having paid this month's cc bill, there's not a huge amount left:o - as I'm still a month behind IYKWIM and still trying to get in advance with most budgets).

Fingers crossed I don't lost the plot totally with having to use cash / debit card for the next couple of weeks:eek:

Anyway ...... first spends of the month £32.38 at Mr A this morning.

Any Persil Washing Liquid fans out there - Mr A have the 28 wash bottles (usual price £6.40) rolled back to £5 but 2 for £7 which is pretty good (yup, I did get a couple more to add to the pile:o - def enough to year end now:T)

    Good morning.
NSD day yesterday and today, will probably go shopping tomorrow, going to meal plan religiously for the next week as I've spent a huge amount of may's budget already

    Thanks for that Jumblejack :)
Rising from the ashes good luck with your dc/cash, what a nightmare, thank goodness your cc company noticed quickly though.

It happened to a friend of mine with a debit card, he bought something in a shop, it was a large purchase of a sofa i think it was, a couple of weeks later he found out his card deatils had been copied & his bank account had been debited for quite a few items. H e got it sorted.
Anyhow, thanks for the tip for the laundry liquid, i much prefer it than the powder now, so oh is going to asda for me, naughty really because i am meant to be avoiding supermarkets but i cant pass up on an offer like that,

    No apologies needed :)

Glad they might help one or two on here. It all counts in reducing your shopping bills.

If you do get the free cravendale milk, tesco have a price news flyer in the stores which has a £1 when you 'spend' £4 on filtered milk (which craven dale is) you can use both vouchers :)

    NSD yesterday and today.

Invented 'instant' cream of 'mato soup last night - pack of passata, bunch of chopped fresh basil, garlic granules, milk and a slosh of cream. Had it with a stale seeded wholemeal roll - flashed under cold tap and placed on oven shelf at 200 deg for 10 mins... fresher than when I bought it last week from Mr M! Bought 5 reduced (about 6:30-7pm) for £1, and froze 3.

Hm soup (or chilled, on offer/reduced) + roll or slice of bread satisfies hunger for 3 hours - much longer than tinned soup, and better for us.

Today it's the other half of the soup + another flash-freshened roll, for lunch, and Cauliflower Cheese for tea. That will make 3-4 good portions, so may fridge one for tomorrow and freeze the rest, unless I decide to have two tomorrow.

Bought the largest £1 cauli from Mr M last week and use the decent green bits too, so 4 cheap, delicious meals. I always buy mature/extra mature cheddar (whatever's on offer), so I need to use less to get the flavour. (!celand is good for mature cheese - £5 for a kilo.) I often cut a chunk for lunch when I'm particularly lazy - keeps me satisfied for about 3 hours.

Sunday or Monday I am digging out a half shoulder of lamb (from Christmas offer) for a roast and then stew for the rest of the week. I'm hoping to get good enough weather to get more gardening done and I can't be a*sed to cook a meal when I come indoors!:rotfl:

    Tips:

Spag Bol made to your usual recipe, substituting a can of green/brown lentils (or dried brown lentils soaked, and cooked) for mince, tastes just like the real thing. Good when you have a veggie guest.

    Day-before-Pay-Day.

Boiled pasta. Sauce: red lentils cooked with tin of toms, water and garlic/granules + fresh or dried herbs, topped with a little cheese, if you have any left.

    Quick Posh Pasta

270g pasta, boiled. Chuck in 300ml single cream/E!mlea + dried/fresh oregano. Spag, tagliatelle or fettucini work well. Serves 4
    Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j
    No debts.
