Have you heard of the Takeaway cookbook that some forum members use? The recipes are said to be good - you will not want another bought take away. The book sounds like a good investment and you get the takeaway treat - but know what went in it and the cost will be reduced!
No I haven't, thanks Florenceem sounds interesting! Where can I get it from?

Do you rub in to make the biscuits or cream or just cut in please?

I cream the butter and sugar until it becomes fluffy, then add the flour. I use a knife to mix it in roughly then in go the clean hands.

I LOVE rolling it into sausages :D

This makes baking biscuits intothe ultimate instant convenience. My ice drawer is getting quite full of these type of emergency confections for unexpected guests ;)

Did you have the oven on especially to cook the Twinks? If so - better to bake when you are cooking the dinner - make use of all the oven. Bossy Florenceem. :o

Hehehe, i had other bits in there: flapjacks and also millies cookies.

I bought mine from play.com with free delivery. I bought The takeaway secret & more Take away secrets. They were well worth the money spent approx £7 for both.
Floreneceem, i too am a great collector of cookbooks & gardening books. I have books of both from the 50's also and it is very interesting to read how times & ingredients have changed.
On holiday last year i was the only one by the pool with a cookbook.:)

I used to make loads of biscuits for my children. :)I have the biscuit/cookie pump machine/shapers. You get all sorts of shapes that fit in the nozzle top - then you get interesting biccys. All the different shapes/colours I made meant my children didn't complain about not having bought biscuits. :rotfl: Wouldn't have done them any good if they had! :rotfl:
I have 2 of these makers in a cupboard - plus my eldest DD bought me a new set in a gift box last Christmas! I will have to sort them out and sell on Ebay - I don't need 3 - can't understand why I had 2! :(

Ordered a copy, thanks ladies :D Now does this cookbook come out of my new food budget or my personal spends budget? Less than £4 including P&P though so not bad if it saves us a fortune in the long run!

Still not convinced - it is not better to have the oven on once a day.
